Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang dropped: My Arsenal line-up vs Everton

Albert Sambi Lokonga

Arsenal head to Goodison Park to take on Everton on Monday night. This is the line-up I’d like to see Mikel Arteta select for the match…

Aaron Ramsdale will obviously keep goal once again but I hope we see Arsenal make one key change in defence. Nuno Tavares is a huge talent but he’s still very raw and he cost us another goal during the defeat at Man Utd. Kieran Tierney is still Arsenal’s best left-back so he should be recalled tomorrow.

Otherwise, I’d stick with Takehiro Tomiyasu at right-back while Ben White should continue his partnership with Gabriel at the heart of defence.

I though it was a bizarre decision to start Mohamed Elneny at Old Trafford so I’d certainly drop the Egyptian tomorrow night. Granit Xhaka is back in training after making a swift recovery from a knee injury but this game comes too soon. Therefore, I’d bring Albert Sambi Lokonga back in to line-up alongside Thomas Partey.

I, like many Arsenal fans, am getting increasingly concerned about the form of Partey as he’s really struggling to consistently be the dominant central midfielder we desperately need. Hopefully he puts in an improved performance at Everton as he was poor against United.

Aubameyang dropped

Martin Odegaard should continue in the number 10 role after scoring a fine goal last time out. His work rate is also vitally important so I’d stick with him and hand Bukayo Saka a start on the right flank after he was only fit for the bench on Thursday.

Emile Smith Rowe is a slight doubt after picking up a muscle issue at United but he’s expected to be available so I’d start him on the left wing.

Gabriel Martinelli was Arsenal’s biggest threat at Old Trafford and deserves to keep his place. I think his best position right now is on the left wing but it might be time to give him a chance in his preferred central role.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s poor form continued with another below par display against Man Utd and it’s clear he doesn’t really fit Arteta’s system. Maybe we need to take him out the firing line for now and give Martinelli a start at Everton.

Aubameyang will be an option from the bench along with Alexandre Lacazette.

Here is the side I hope we see:
