Report: Arsenal to make move for £60m attacker, lucrative contract will be offered

According to reports, Arsenal are expected to launch a move to sign James Maddison and will offer the £60m-rated Leicester City playmaker a lucrative contract.

Mikel Arteta is in the market for a new No.10 after Martin Odegaard returned to Real Madrid following the end of his loan agreement and the Norwegian international has already confirmed he’ll be staying at the Bernabeu for next season.

Arsenal have been linked with a number of players in recent weeks but Maddison is a name that keeps popping up and reports claim we’re ready to launch a big move for his signature over the coming weeks.

The Daily Star cite ‘trusted Arsenal transfer source’ AFC Bell who claims Maddison’s camp have been told Arsenal will make a play to sign him this summer and he expects to leave Leicester City.

The report says Arteta has made Maddison his first choice target for the No.10 role and Arsenal will offer the playmaker a lucrative four-year-plus-one-year contract worth £200,000-a-week – which is twice what he currently earns.

Arteta is reportedly aware any deal will be complicated to pull off but he feels it’s possible to get something agreed and TeamTalk suggests that Maddison will cost around £60m this summer.

The 24-year-old was unlucky to miss out on a place in the England squad for Euro 2020 as an injury derailed him during the closing stages of last season but Maddison is a terrific player and I’d love to see him come to Arsenal.

He has all the attributes we’ve lacked at times as he’s a creative talent who can make things happen in the final third. His 11 goals and 10 assists last season was a very healthy return and we could certainly do with someone like him in the squad.

I still think Leicester will make it difficult to get a deal done and £60m sounds fairly cheap considering Jack Grealish is valued at around £100m, but we’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks.

    Haha! Just because you want something to be true, and have been crossing your fingers (and toes) for ages, doesn’t make it true!

    I love these sad-case blogs. You regurgitate whatever nonsense fits the criteria and don’t care if you look pathetic while you’re at it. I’m sure your mum/subscriber, would agree.

    Question 1… why would Maddison drop down a level? Arsenal are a big club but they (you) are living in the past. You’ve got a rubbish manager and an owner who is only slightly better than Mike Ashley. Yeah, I can definitely see Maddison moving to you. Ha!

    Question 2… why would Leicester sell Maddison? There is no transfer request, the club have zero debt and the owners are billionaires – in other words, Leicester don’t need the money.

    Question 3… why would Leicester tell Arsenal to pay £60m? When was the last time a club told every other club exactly how much money it would take to buy a player who they don’t need to sell and who hasn’t asked to leave? Remember, Leicester got £80m for Maguire and £35m for Danny Drinkwater – I can’t see them giving Maddison away for peanuts and you’re deluded if you think otherwise.

    If Maddison moves he’ll go to a big club, but I doubt he’d go anywhere to sit on the bench but only the clubs in Manchester can afford him. Have a word with yourself you silly billy.

    Andy you should stop crying😭,every player has his price and money answeret all things,arsenal is a huge club forget about the crisis they are having now,the fa cup that Leicester lifted last season,remember that trophy is a play toy to arsenal,they can offer money to players and the player has more opportunities in winning trophy and playing in the Almighty London,is not easy to be playing there,,Madison is a gunner,Leicester fans should stop crying

    I thought Arsenal would be going for Bissouma who has already expressed his desire to move to North London instead of going round in rings. Bissouma is an excellent midfielder and is young and available for a reasonable amount.
