Arsenal confirm last gasp signing of ‘prolific’ young striker on 4-year deal
Arsenal have confirmed on Arsenal.com that highly-rated young striker Nikolaj Moller has joined the club from Malmo after signing a four-year contract.
Arsenal have been quietly overhauling the youth teams in recent months with a number of incomings and outgoings and we made a late move for Moller on deadline day.
Various media outlets suggested on Monday that the 18-year-old was at London Colney undergoing his medical after a deal was agreed with Malmo for his signature.
Arsenal took their time to announce the transfer as there was no official word after the 11pm deadline last night but we eventually confirmed on Arsenal.com this morning that Moller has joined the club.
The teenage hitman will start off in the youth system to continue his development in Steve Bould’s U23s squad and follows youngsters like George Lewis, Tim Akinola and Jonathan Dinzeyi in joining Arsenal recently.
Goal claims Arsenal have paid Malmo around £450,000 for Moller’s signature and the player has signed a four-year contract with the club.
In their statement on Arsenal.com, Arsenal describe Moller as a ‘powerful striker and prolific goalscorer’ so he should offer stiff competition for Folarin Balogun in the U23’s this season.
Moller came through the youth ranks at Malmo and spent 18 months in Italy with Bologna before returning to Malmo in January. He’s also a Swedish Under-19 international so hopefully he can continue to develop his skills in the Arsenal youth ranks.
Obviously his arrival has been overshadowed after Arsenal completed the £45m signing of Thomas Partey on deadline day. The midfielder should prove to be a huge addition to Mikel Arteta’s side this season.
