Arsenal booked their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a solid 2-0 victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday night.

We had the best chances in the first half but had to wait until the 57th minute to break the deadlock. Christian Fuchs put through his own net to give Arsenal the lead following some excellent work by Nicolas Pepe.

Leicester struggled to find an equaliser as Arsenal’s defence held firm and we sealed victory in injury time when Eddie Nketiah poked home from close range to make it 2-0.

Here are my ratings:

Leno  6/10 | Smart early save to deny Iheanacho and made another decent save off his line in the first half.

Holding  6/10 | He’ll never be the most polished defender but he does the basics well enough. Sloppy start but improved as the game went on and dealt reasonably well with Iheanacho.

Luiz  6.5/10 | Took a nasty elbow to the head from Leno but soldiered on. Controlled things at the back and kept Leicester at bay.

Kolasinac  5/10 | Looked low on confidence and was a weak link in truth. Poor on the ball and caught out a couple of times with his positioning.

Maitland-Niles  6/10 | Started at right wing-back but didn’t really take his chance to shine. Not as adventurous as we’ve seen from him. Solid but very uninspiring.

Elneny  6/10 | Another who didn’t really have a huge impact Just did the simple things, broke up play and made a few interceptions.

Willock  5.5/10 | Failed to take his chance. Didn’t really have much influence going forward and looked a bit lost at times.

Saka  7.5/10 | Arguably our main threat as he was always bursting forward down the left flank. Put in a few dangerous crosses and passing was solid too.

Pepe  7.5/10 | In and out the game but when he was on the ball Pepe was a threat. His excellent footwork created the opening goal and he grew in confidence as the match went on.

Nketiah  7.5/10 | Worked his socks off all night and got a deserved goal. Played his part in the opener too. Always kept the Leicester backl-ine busy.

Nelson  7/10 | Forced Ward into a terrific early save but missed a great chance to open the scoring following a corner in the 30th minute. Was very lively in the first half but faded after the break.

Subs:

Willian [6], Ceballos [6], Bellerin [6]

Solid display from Arsenal. Up next, a tough trip to Liverpool in the fourth round. Watch the goals here:

Pepe was a 4.5 and thats including the lucky drive that resulted in the own goal. He did nothing in the first half and he’s worth 72 Million? Let’s admit that Pepe is a flop. Let’s stop trying to give him fake ratings..it does not do any good. Holding, Luiz, and Elneny were outstanding! I know some section of Arsenal fans dont like Elneny and no matter how well he plays, they’ll refuse to recognize it. Lets be fair and honest in our ratings and treat every player equally. Pepe is really gonna become an Ozil at this rate. He’ll play okay 1 game then disappear the next 5 games. We cant have and tolerate that if we want to win a title. Saka, Martinelli, Nelson, and Willan are better than him by a mile. They should be given more chances to shine. We shouldn’t have bought Pepe.

Thank you very much sir for your candid and accurate analysis! I don’t know what game the author this article watched! Elneny was super! How can he be rated 6. I feel sad why Arsenal fans don’t appreciate the effort of Elneny. He is the unsung hero of this team presently. He should play every game to continue to grow in confidence.
