Arsenal face-off against Leicester City in a crucial game at the Emirates on Tuesday night and Mikel Arteta looks set to be without five of his first team squad.

The club issued the latest team news on Arsenal.com this afternoon and confirmed that we didn’t pick-up any new injury concerns following the 2-0 victory over Wolves on Saturday, which is obviously good news.

However, Mesut Ozil remains a big doubt for tomorrow’s game. The German playmaker is yet to play a single minute of football since the restart with Arteta initially suggesting Ozil wasn’t working hard enough to earn a place in his team.

The club then claimed Mesut is carrying a back problem that’s kept him out of our games against Sheffield United, Norwich and Wolves. This so-called injury is still hampering Ozil so I don’t think we’ll see him back in the squad against Leicester.

Gabriel Martinelli is certain to miss the game after being ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury that he sustained in training last month. Arsenal aren’t giving any fixed time-frame over his recovery but judging by the images of Martinelli in a brace and the fact he’s undergone surgery, I don’t think we’ll be seeing him for several months.

Bernd Leno is still four weeks away from recovering from a knee injury that he picked up against Brighton while Pablo Mari is at least two months away from overcoming an ankle ligament problem.

With Calum Chambers still recovering from a serious knee ligament injury, Arsenal are set to be without five players for the crucial visit of Leicester City to north London tomorrow night.

The latest team news, as confirmed on Arsenal.com:

Calum Chambers
Left knee. Ruptured anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee during Chelsea (h) on December 29. Rehabilitation post-surgical repair continuing and currently progressing well with running and gym work. Will not be available for the current schedule of remaining 2019/20 matches.

Bernd Leno
Right knee. Sustained moderate ligament sprain during Brighton & Hove (a) on June 20. Aiming to return to full training in approximately four weeks.

Pablo Mari
Left ankle. Sustained significant sprain to ankle ligaments during Manchester City (a) on June 17. Has had a successful procedure to the injury this week. Aiming to return to full training in two to three months.

Gabriel Martinelli
Left knee. Sustained injury during training on June 21. Successful arthroscopic procedure undertaken to repair a lesion in the cartilage of the left knee. Will not be available for the current schedule of remaining 2019/20 matches.

Mesut Ozil
Being assessed ahead of Leicester City (h) following back soreness.

Arsenal have given themselves a glimmer of hope in our pursuit of securing Champions League football again after climbing up to seventh with the win at Wolves on Saturday.

However, we’re still six points behind fifth-placed Manchester United so we have to beat Leicester – who’re third – if we want to stand a chance of snatching a Champions League qualification spot.
