According to French journalist Manu Lonjon, Arsenal are ‘well advanced’ in their talks to sign Dominik Szoboszlai this summer and could get a deal agreed somewhere in the region of £25m.

Mikel Arteta desperately needs to improve his squad this summer as Arsenal have endured another hugely disappointing campaign that’s highlighted just how far away we are from the top dogs.

A lack of creativity going forward has been a real problem at times with Mesut Ozil barely making any significant contributions these days so Arteta needs to bring in someone who can help in the transitions between midfield and attack.

Szoboszlai has been touted as a target for several months and French journalist Manu Lonjon has now claimed that Arsenal are ‘well advanced’ in their negotiations to sign the RB Salzburg star this summer.

Lonjon says the Austrian outfit would want somewhere between £22.7m [€25m] and £27m [€30m] for his signature so a deal would probably cost around £25m – which should suit Arsenal’s tight budget.

However, while Szoboszlai is seemingly open to a move, we’ll face competition as the reporter claims AC Milan are also making serious attempts to sign Szoboszlai while Paris Saint-Germain have enquired about his situation.

Lonjon tweeted:

“PSG asked about Dominik Szoboszlai (RB Salzburg). Profile quite similar to that of Milinkovic-Savic,”

“Other big clubs on it. The player’s entourage was probed and not insensitive to interest. Cost 25/30M.”

“Arsenal and AC Milan well advanced.”

Szoboszlai has been with Salzburg for three years and is one of the most exciting young talents in European football. His record this season is impressive as he’s scored 10 goals and provided a further 16 assists in just 37 games.

Arsenal could certainly do with that sort of threat in the final third and the 19-year-old is comfortable playing out on the left wing or through the middle as a central attacking midfielder so he’d give Arteta options.

The teenage attacker has huge potential and is already a senior international with Hungary so I think he’d be an excellent addition to the squad if we could snap him up for around £25m this summer.
