Sky Sports: Arsenal closing-in on double swoop as Emery kicks-off late spending spree

By on July 21, 2019

According to Sky Sports News, Arsenal are increasingly confident of pulling off a double swoop to sign Dani Ceballos and Kieran Tierney as Unai Emery prepares for a busy end to the window.

We’ve been strongly linked with a whole host of players throughout the summer but so far Arsenal have only managed to tie-up a deal to sign Brazilian youngster Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano.

However, it’s expected to be a hectic final two-and-a-half weeks before the window closes as Emery has confirmed he wants to bring in up to four new signings before the start of the season and it seems we’re closing-in on two major additions.

Sky Sports are one of several media outlets who’re reporting that Arsenal are on the verge of bringing Dani Ceballos to the Emirates on a season long loan deal from Real Madrid.

The 22-year-old has found first team football hard to come by under Zinedine Zidane so he needs to leave to get regular action and it looks like Ceballos is now heading to Arsenal as a replacement for Aaron Ramsey.

The Mirror support Sky Sports as they too are reporting that Arsenal are on the verge of signing the Spanish U21 international on a loan deal after seeing off competition from Tottenham for his signature.

Emery is also in the market for a new left-back as the boss continues to have on-going doubts over Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac, and Tierney has been identified as the man to help strengthen our defence.

Sky Sports says Celtic rejected Arsenal’s improved £25m offer for the 22-year-old due to the structure of the payments with the SPL Champions not happy with the amount of add-ons we included in the deal.

A third offer is expected to be submitted and Sky Sports claim Arsenal are confident a deal will eventually be reached with Celtic. Reporter Dharmesh Sheth has told The Sky Sports Transfer Show:

“I’m led to believe there’s growing confidence Arsenal can get the deals for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos and Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney over the line,”

“Tierney on a permanent deal if they can sort out the structure of payment. Ceballos on loan because he sees his long-term future at Real Madrid, but he wants to get more game time now to impress Zinedine Zidane.”

Celtic are playing hardball but it doesn’t sound like we’re a million miles apart on our valuations and we just need to agree on the structure of a £25m deal so I expect Tierney to be an Arsenal player next season.

The Scottish international will be an excellent addition to the squad as he’ll be a big upgrade on Monreal and Kolasinac so let’s hope we can get his deal and Ceballos over the line soon.

Arsenal are also reportedly set to sign highly-rated defender William Saliba from Saint-Etienne before loaning him back for next season while Emery is after a winger so it’s going to be a busy couple of weeks in north London!
