Arsenal confident of sealing deal for 25-year-old star, personal terms already agreed

According to the Mirror, Arsenal are confident of sealing a deal to sign Yannick Carrasco from Dalian Yifang as Unai Emery closes-in on his first signing of the summer.

The boss knows he needs to overhaul his squad after a disastrous end to last season saw us miss out on the top four and get thumped by Chelsea in the Europa League final so fresh faces are needed over the coming weeks.

While strengthening the defence and midfield is vitally important, we also need to inject some width to the squad in attack and Carassco has emerged as a target once again, months after we failed to agree a deal for him during the January window.

There have been numerous reports flying about in recent days suggesting we’re in talks to sign the Belgian international and the Mirror now claim Arsenal are confident of getting a deal agreed.

The newspaper says Dalian Yifang are willing to sell if we put £26m on the table but Arsenal are trying to seal a deal that will see us sign Carrasco on an initial 12-month loan with an option to make the move permanent next summer.

It remains to be seen whether Dalian Yifang will accept such a proposal but the Mirror suggests that Arsenal are confident a deal will be agreed and Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira says Arsenal have already agree personal terms with the winger.

Carrasco has now spoken out about his future and reiterated his desire to move back to Europe following an 18-month spell in China but he admitted any decision over a switch to Arsenal rests with his clubs president.

Carrasco is quoted by the Mirror as saying:

“The whole world knows that I want to return to Europe. Now, it depends on the president and I hope he finds a solution.”

When Asked about Arsenal, he replied:

“I can’t speak about the club. Now I am not the one who chooses, but my president. He decides if he lets me go or not, but I hope I can come back.”

Emery is on the tight budget this summer so I can appreciate why the club are trying to pursue a loan deal but if we mess about too long we’ll miss out as several other clubs [such as Bayern Munich] are also being linked with Carrasco.

To be fair, £26m is an excellent deal in today’s market for a player of his quality. The 25-year-old was excellent during his spells at Monaco and Atletico Madrid while he’s also performed well in China. Overall, he’s contributed 57 goals and 52 assists in 263 appearances throughout his career so he’d certainly add some creativity to the Arsenal side.

Let’s see how things develop but I think Carrasco would be an excellent signing if we could get a deal agreed so fingers crossed Arsenal can get something wrapped-up quickly.
