Arsenal working on late deal to sign £35m star – player wants move

By on January 30, 2019

According to the Mirror, Arsenal are back in talks with Chinese side Dalian Yifang over a late swoop for Yannick Carrasco after a proposed deal for Ivan Perisic stalled.

We’re closing-in on a deal to sign Denis Suarez from Barcelona but Unai Emery admitted after the win over Cardiff last night that we need more wingers and the club have been targetting Perisic this month.

However, talks with Inter Milan have collapsed as they are demanding a permanent sale – something Arsenal can’t do – so the Mirror claim we’ve now turned our attention back to Carrasco.

Arsenal were linked with the 25-year-old earlier in the window before deciding to focus on Perisic but the newspaper says we’ve renewed our interest in Carrasco and are working on a late deal for the pacey winger.

The Mirror claim that Dalian Yifang want £35m but Arsenal are trying to secure an initial loan and hope the players determination to move back to Europe will help facilitate a deal.

The Belgian international’s agent is believed to have offered Carrasco to Arsenal so there is a clear indication the player wants a move but it remains to be seen whether we can get a deal agreed with his club.

His wages could also be an issue as Carrasco is reportedly on around £170,000-a-week so there is still a long way to go before an agreement is reached for the winger to come to the Emirates before the window closes on Thursday night.

However, if we could somehow get a deal agreed then I think Carrasco would be an excellent addition to the squad as he’d provide some much needed pace and width to the team.

Carrasco and Suarez would be a solid window and would bolster our attacking options but I still worry about our defence as we’re crying out for a versatile defender who can play right-back or centre-back.
