[Photos] Arsenal handed huge double fitness boost as duo train ahead of Liverpool
Arsenal have been handed a huge double fitness boost as Sead Kolasinac and Hector Bellerin took part in training on Friday ahead of the visit of Liverpool this weekend but there was no sign of Nacho Monreal or Sokratis.
Kolasinac has missed our last four matches in all competitions since suffering a hamstring injury in training on the eve of our 3-1 win over Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium 11 days ago.
However, the Bosnian international returned to training on Wednesday and was able to take part in a full session at London Colney today so it looks like he’ll be available for selection tomorrow evening.
Kolasinac’s return will come as a major boost as there was still no sign of fellow left-back Monreal in the official photos from Friday’s training session. Granit Xhaka has been filling-in at left-back recently but with Kolasinac back, he’ll be free to resume his role in midfield tomorrow.
In a double boost, Bellerin was also snapped at training today as he looks to return having missed the League Cup win over Blackpool with a thigh injury that he sustained against Crystal Palace last weekend.
However, it looks like Sokratis is set to miss out tomorrow as the Greek international wasn’t pictured at London Colney today as he continues to overcome a niggling ankle injury that’s hampered him in recent games.
That will be a huge blow as Sokratis – along with Monreal and Laurent Koscielny – arguably make-up three of our best back four so we’ll be without several key defenders against one of the best attacks in European football.
Here are some snaps from Friday’s session:
