From Italy: Arsenal preparing bid for highly-rated midfield star
According to reports in Italy via the Mirror. Arsenal are set to make a formal offer for Atalanta’s highly-rated midfielder Dejan Kulusevski after Sven Mislintat identified him as a target.
Our new head of recruitment has already make his mark since arriving at the Emirates from Borussia Dortmund having helped negotiate deals to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in January.
However, the 45-year-old is gearing-up for an important summer as he’s been put in charge of overseeing our transfer business during what’s expected to be a hectic window in north London.
Fans are crying out for big-name signings to help turn us in to genuine challengers again but Mislintat is known to have an eye for young talent and it seems he’s identified his latest potential gem.
The Mirror are citing calciomercato as reporting that Arsenal are set to make an offer to Atalanta for Kulusevski after being impressed by the midfielders performance for their primavera side this season.
Kulusevski has shone for the development squad having scored 5 goals and 7 assists so far this season and he also chipped in with 17 goals in 22 appearances for the Under-17 team last year.
The Swedish teenager is tipped to have a bright future in the game and the fact he can play anywhere across the midfield positions means he’d be a useful addition at the Emirates.
Our U23 squad is doing well this season after booking their place in the final of the Premier League International Cup last night but there is always room for improvement so it’s good to see the club looking to sign one of Europe’s top young talent.
However, we aren’t the only club in the race to sign Kulusevski as the Italian outlet says there are several top Serie A teams also showing an interest so we face a battle to land the 17-year-old star this summer.
