Arsenal submit improved £51m offer for Aubameyang [Bild]

By on January 23, 2018

According to Bild via the Express, Arsenal have increased their offer for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to around £51m but are still short of Borrusia Dortmund’s valuation.

Aubameyang has been strongly linked with a move to north London this month as Arsene Wenger tries to strengthen our attacking options following the departures of Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott.

Arsenal chief exec Ivan Gazidis, head scout Sven Mislintat and legal expert Huss Fahmy arrived in Dortmund on Sunday afternoon and headed for talks with the Bundesliga giants.

The Telegraph claimed our opening offer worth £44m was immediately rejected while a second bid of around £48m was also quickly knocked back by Dortmund.

Wenger admitted his interest in signing Aubameyang at his press conference this morning but he insisted that a deal was still a long way from completion.

It seems we’ve now tested Dortmund’s resolve with a fresh offer as the Express are citing Bild as saying that Arsenal have now tabled an improved bid worth £50.9m.

However, the German outlet says we’re still well short of Dortmund’s £61.5m valuation while they are also keen for Olivier Giroud to be included in any proposed deal.

Offering them Giroud on loan for the rest of the season could be the deal breaker and it would make sense for all parties as Giroud needs to play regularly ahead of the World Cup and Dortmund would get a direct replacement for Aubameyang.

We’ll have to keep a close eye on things but it seems Arsenal are serious about signing the Gabon international this month. If we really want to get a deal agreed quickly, then we either need to offer closer to their valuation or throw in Giroud on loan to sweeten the deal.

Rest assured that Wenger will not bid enough for Aubamayang.. Like in the Thomas Lemar affair Wenger will bid below Dortmund’s asking price and will say how hard he tried to buy Aubamayang. Why? So far selling Coquelin and Walcott has made £30,000,000. Sanchez and Mkhitaryan were like for like. Wengers Freudian characteristic will not allow him to spend the type of money Liverpool, United and City. So be prepared to hear ‘how hard we tried’. Remember £40,000,001 for Suarez.

Fellow Gunners I think we will have the strongest frontline in England if we can get PEA in before deadline…..imagine Mkhitaryan-Lacazette-Aubameyang-Ozil.Then get a tough-tackler DM, a dynamic CB and a GK ….we will win EPL seamlessly
