Arsenal Team News: Wenger confirms huge injury blow + attacker to miss Newcastle game
Arsene Wenger has provided a team news and injury update ahead of Arsenal’s game with Newcastle United this weekend.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference this morning, the boss offered the latest on the fitness of Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott and Shkodran Mustafi.
Ramsey missed the draw at West Ham on Wednesday night after suffering a hamstring injury during the closing stages of our draw at Southampton last Sunday.
It was initially hoped that the injury was only minor, however, Wenger has now confirmed Ramsey will miss the entire Christmas period after being ruled out for three weeks.
It means Rambo will miss at least another six fixtures including crucial games against Liverpool and Chelsea so it’s a real blow at an important time of year.
Wenger also confirmed that Walcott missed the West Ham game with a minor groin injury which will also keep him out of tomorrow’s clash with Newcastle United.
The final update was on Mustafi and while the German international is back in full training, Wenger suggests that this weekend’s game might come too soon for the defender.
Here is what the boss had to say this morning:
At Colney. Wenger:"Mustafi is back in training. I don't know if he will play. It would be a little gamble. Aaron Ramsey will not be available. He is not in contention for three weeks."
