Chelsea handed huge injury boost ahead of Arsenal but midfielder ruled out

By on September 15, 2017

Arsenal desperately need to come away with a positive result when we take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

Unfortunately, Blues boss Antonio Conte has revealed a major injury boost ahead of the game after hinting that Eden Hazard could be ready to make his first start of the season.

Hazard has only made two substitute appearances so far this campaign after recently recovering from a broken foot that he sustained while away with the Belgian national team during the summer.

However, after getting another 30 minutes under his belt during Chelsea’s 6-0 Champions League win over Qarabag in midweek, Conte says Hazard is now close to being 100% fit.

Obviously it will be a blow for Arsenal if Hazard does start as he’s one of the best players in the Premier League and he tore us apart at the Bridge last season, so let’s hope he remains on the bench this weekend.

There was some positive news for us coming out of Conte’s pre-match press conference this afternoon as he also confirmed that Danny Drinkwater isn’t available for the game this weekend.

Drinkwater is yet to feature for Chelsea since joining from Leicester on deadline day due to a calf injury and Conte feels the problem is likely to keep the midfielder on the sidelines until after the upcoming international break.

He told reporters:

Arsenal have our own injury concerns to worry about as Arsene Wenger has revealed that Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey are both facing late tests to overcome knocks – see full details on our team news here.

Though I disagree with almost everything all the Arsenal regime do -or more accurately, DO NOT DO – the news tht Gazidis may be about to resign, after having a difference of opinion with Wenger(even if, as seems possible, Gazidis wants Wenger out) I am thrilled at the prospect of getting rid of the most awful, lying, corrupt director this club has ever had. Hope it happens and good riddance to smarmball Gazidis. Next to force out are Kroenke and Wenger. To much to hope for that David Dein returns in his place, sadly. Dein has been the only visionary at the club this century and our woes and decline happened from 2007, the year he was forced out , in an historically black day for our club.
