Arsenal to offer lucrative contract to midfielder who’s key to Wenger’s plans
According to the Telegraph, Arsenal are ready to hand Aaron Ramsey a lucrative new contract in an attempt to avoid any more messy contract situations.
As we all know, our summer transfer plans are being overshadowed by doubts over the future’s of Alexis Sanchez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mesut Ozil as the trio are all about to enter the final year of their contracts.
The uncertainty is disrupting Wenger’s attempts to rebuild his squad after missing out on the top four as his activity in the market will change dramatically if any of the three were to leave this summer.
It looks like the club are keen to avoid any similar situations arising in future as the Telegraph claim that Arsenal are now ready to tie key players down to new deals when they approach the final two years of their contracts.
The likes of Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey all have two years left to run on their existing deals but it looks as though tying our Welsh midfielder down is the key priority.
Ramsey’s current £100,000-a-week deal runs until 2019 so the newspaper says Arsenal are ready to open talks with the midfielder over an extension to cement his long-term future and prevent him from nearing the final 12 months of his deal next summer.
The Telegraph claim that Wenger sees Ramsey as a key part of his plans so the 26-year-old will be offered a lucrative contract that will see him maintain his status as one of the clubs top earners.
Ramsey had a mixed season last year as his campaign was disrupted by some niggling injuries but he ended the season strongly and ended up scoring the winner in the FA Cup final.
He seemed to be forging an impressive partnership alongside Granit Xhaka ever since we switched to a 3-4-2-1 formation so hopefully we see him really push on again next season.
