Arsenal to announce first signing on July 1st after agreeing deal
According to Sky Sports News, Arsenal will officially unveil Sead Kolasinac as our first signing of the summer on July 1st after agreeing terms with the Schalke defender.
Kolasinac is out-of-contract at the end of June and has been in talks with a number of clubs in recent months after failing to agree terms with Schalke over an extension.
The 23-year-old has been strongly tipped for a move to the Emirates with Goal reporting last month that Kolasinac has undergone the first part of his medical after agreeing terms over a four-year deal.
Further reports then suggested the Bosnian international was yet to decide between Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea or AC Milan but it looks like he’s now settled on a switch to north London.
Sky Sports are claiming that Kolasinac has agreed to join Arsenal on a free transfer when his contract expires with Schalke and the deal will be formally announced on July 1st.
This comes after reports in Germany over the weekend suggested that Kolasinac had agreed a move to the Emirates but it’s always nice when Sky Sports confirms it.
Obviously we shouldn’t get too excited until Kolasinac is on Arsenal.com holding the Red & White shirt but it looks as though the full-back will be our first signing of what’s expected to be a busy summer.
His arrival will cast doubt over the future of Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs as Kolasinac will come in as our new first choice left-back – or left wing-back if we stick with the new formation next year.

Gibbs is the most likely to leave as he’s about to enter the final year of his contract and he’s struggled to hold down a first team place so I expect he’ll be on the move this summer.
Either way, Kolasinac will be a superb addition to the squad and an excellent piece of business as he’s developed in to one of the best full-backs in German football.
