Bundesliga star has ‘signed a 5 year contract with Arsenal’
According to reports in Germany via the Daily Star, Sead Kolasinac has sealed his move to Arsenal after signing a five-year contract ahead of his free transfer switch from Schalke.
Kolasinac is out-of-contract at the end of June and he’s been in talks with a number of clubs in recent weeks after failing to agree terms over an extension.
The 23-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates with Goal reporting last month that Kolasinac had agreed personal terms and undergone his medical with Arsenal.
Subsequent reports suggested that Kolasinac was still deliberating between Arsenal, Man City and AC Milan, however, it seems the left-back has now settled on a move to north London.
The Daily Star are citing German reporter Raphael Wiesweg as confirming that the defender has now signed a pre-contract agreement with the Gunners after putting pen-to-paper over a five-year deal.
“The departure of Sead Kolasinac is fixed,” Wiesweg said.
“Sead Kolasinac has signed a 5-year contract with Arsenal.”
Further reports in Italy confirmed the news so while there has been nothing official from Arsenal or the players camp yet, it looks as though this is now a ‘done deal’.
Kolasinac will arrive as our new first choice left-back ahead of Nacho Monreal after developing in to one of the best full-backs in the Bundesliga in recent years.
The Bosnian international is attack-minded so he’ll also be a great fit for the left wing-back role if Wenger opts to stick with this new formation next season.
His arrival is almost certainly going to result in one of Monreal or Kieran Gibbs leaving this summer. There has been talk of Nacho heading back to Spain but Gibbs has just one year left on his deal so he could be the man to leave.
This is going to be an extremely busy few months at Arsenal but signing a player of Kolasinac’s quality on a free transfer is an excellent way to kick start the summer window.
