Ospina & Welbeck Out: My Arsenal Starting XI vs Monaco

Champions League football returns to the Emirates tomorrow as we take on Monaco in the first leg of our last 16 tie. This is the starting eleven I’d like to see start the game…

The on-going debate is who should start in goal. Arsene appears to have made Ospina his new No.1 but I still feel Szczesny is the better option overall.

Ospina has done okay in recent weeks but not enough to convince me he deserves the gloves off Szczesny long-term just yet. For me, Wojciech is still the best keeper we have and we should play our best players in a game of this magnitude.

Bellerin was on the bench for Saturday’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace so he should be fit to return to the starting line-up after a minor ankle knock while I’d certainly go with Gibbs on the left over Monreal.

Wilshere didn’t get off the bench against Palace so I don’t see him being in any position to start against Monaco. Ramsey and Arteta are still injured so I’d stick with Cazorla and Ozil in front of Coquelin the middle of the park.

Welbeck made some important contributions at the weekend but Monaco are potentially missing their two first choice full-backs so I’d play Walcott and really take advantage down the flanks.

Sanchez should obviously start on the left with Giroud up top.

Here’s how I’d line-up tomorrow:

This is the side I’d go with, but in reality I wouldn’t be surprised if Arsene sticks with Ospina, Monreal and Welbeck, with Bellerin for Chambers being the only change from Saturday.

What do you think? Who should start tomorrow?
