PREVIEW: West Brom v Arsenal, Team News, Line-Up & Prediction

Olivier Giroud Arsenal

We get back to Premier League action tomorrow with a tricky trip to the Hawthorns to take on West Brom.

Last weeks defeat to Man Utd is still painful as we missed a golden opportunity to beat one of our main rivals and pick up a vital three points.

That defeat left us down in eighth place in the table but thankfully we’re only two points adrift of fourth-placed United so a win this weekend could see us catapult up the division.

Wednesday was a huge game for many reasons as another defeat would have heaped immense pressure on Arsene Wenger’s shoulders, but thankfully the boys produced arguably their best all-round performance of the season to secure a 2-0 win and book our place in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Another display like that tomorrow and I’d be confident of coming back to North London with all three points, that’s for sure.

West Brom are in a bit of a rut themselves as they’ve lost their last two games and sit just three points off the relegation zone in 13th place, so it could be a useful time to play them.

Team News

Injuries have once again ripped through the squad with Jack Wilshere ruled out for three months after damaging ankle ligaments last weekend.

Mikel Arteta is also out for three weeks with a calf strain so Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini will start in midfield tomorrow.

Danny Welbeck is a doubt with a knee injury and with Yaya Sanogo also struggling with a hamstring strain, Olivier Giroud could start his first game since August.

Wojceich Szczesny hasn’t trained this week due to a pelvic injury so with David Ospina also out, Emiliano Martinez should start in goal.

Theo Walcott has been ruled out of our next two games with a groin problem so joins Mathieu Debuchy, Mesut Ozil and Abou Diaby on the sidelines.

As for West Brom, they will call upon danger-man Saido Berahino despite the striker being caught drink-driving in midweek. James Morrison is a doubt with sickness and Seb Pocognoli could return from a hamstring problem. But Jones Olsson is out and Claudio Yacob is suspended.

Preferred Line-Up

This is the team I’d like to see start. There’s no point pushing Welbeck as Giroud is now fit so let’s give him a run-out and use Danny from the bench if needed. Arsene also confirmed that Kos is available so I’d certainly start him. Monreal did well enough against Dortmund but we need to win this game so should start our best players.

Prediction

As I’ve said, if we play in the same measured and professional way as we did in midweek, I’d be confident of winning this game. Despite our injuries we’re still able to field a side more than capable of picking up all three points and I think we’re going to do just that. West Brom 0-2 Arsenal.
