Rumour: Jack Wilshere Ruled Out For 10 Weeks With Ankle Injury
Hold on to your hats Arsenal fans. There are worrying rumours circulating on Twitter suggesting Jack Wilshere has been ruled out for up to 10 weeks with a fresh ankle injury.
Jack was forced off early on in the second half during our 2-1 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday after a nasty challenge from Paddy McNair, with replays showing his ankle turned awkwardly in the turf.
The Telegraph reported this morning that although initial scans indicated the injury was nothing serious, we would investigate things further at London Colney today when the swelling had subsided.
However, as we reported earlier, the 22-year-old was spotted in Harpenden on Sunday night wearing a protective boot and now rumours are growing online that those further scans have shown ligament damage.
The news appears to have originated from Twitter user @ElliotAFS. He claims to have an ‘impeccable’ source and cites well-known Arsenal fan @GeoffArsenal as someone who can vouch for his reliability.
This ‘source’ claims that Wilshere has suffered ligament damage to his left ankle, may need an operation and will now be out for between 8-10 weeks.
It’s difficult to know the truth behind this but lets all pray it’s BS. We’ve had our fair share of ‘bad luck’ with injuries this season (and the previous five seasons!) and the last thing we need is losing yet another important first team player.
Jack hasn’t been at his best for Arsenal this year but he was finally putting a run of games together and looked to be getting back to full fitness after two years of ankle problems, so it would be a devastating blow if he was ruled out for over 2 months.
We should know more tomorrow when Arsene holds his pre-match press conference ahead of the Dortmund game, so fingers crossed we get good news.
