My Preferred Arsenal Starting XI To Play Everton

By on December 5, 2013

It’s Everton up next as Roberto Martinez brings his side to the Emirates on Sunday afternoon off the back of Wednesday nights impressive win over Manchester United.

This game starts a crucial four-match run that may very-well define our season and we head into it in confident mood having secured a routine 2-0 win over Hull City to maintain our four-point lead at the top of the league.

Arsene Wenger made a number of changes on Wednesday so we should see the likes of Kieran Gibbs, Mikel Arteta, Jack Wilshere and Olivier Giroud return to the starting eleven this weekend.

Bacary Sagna will hopefully overcome a slight hamstring problem to face the Toffees as his experience will be vital in seeing-off the impressive Merseyside outfit.

Santi Cazorla has been a little below par in recent games and I think we might see Jack start out on the left with Walcott coming in on the right. Theo wasn’t deemed fit enough to start against the Tigers after a bout of sickness but I think this could be the game he finally gets a start after over two months out of the starting eleven.

So here’s the team I’d like to see start this weekend:

What do you think? Agree with my team? What would yours be?

Exactly my thoughts. I was at the game and he was fantastic. Best player on the pitch.

if I was going starting Theo it would be to keep Oviedo back and keep Pineear occupied on our right hand side- not because Santi is not playing well, because he is

I feel flamini will start bcos of his aggresive nature, nd he psyches the team too..

FLAMINI OVER ARTETA FOR ME ALSO. ARTETA BRINGS NOTHING TO OUR SIDE, HE IS TOO SLOW AND NEGATIVE. ANYONE THAT PICKS WALCOTT IN OUR STARTING ELEVEN IS AN ABSOLUTE IDIOT. EVEN IF CAZORLA WAS OFF FORM THERE ARE AT LEAST 3 OTHER PLAYERS I WOULD PICK AHEAD OF WALCOTT – ROSICKY BEING ONE. WALCOTT IS AN IMPACT PLAYER AND SHOULD COME OFF THE BENCH, NOTHING MORE!

b johnson. The way you’re talking makes it seem like you don’t actually watch the games. either that or you just don’t have a ‘football brain’.

Also chill with the caps bro.

i,m your idiot u have no idea what your talking about Walcott is direct very quick and is an option to play with at least 1 real winger not 2 inside midfielders pushed wide

      December 6, 2013 at 12:12 pm

Why most u insult. Every body is entitled to his or her opinion. So stop that

    • Aterta

      December 6, 2013 at 10:40 pm

Thats a lie aterta is one of our best players don’t be ungrateful an fake

      December 7, 2013 at 8:35 pm

Do you real know aterta, you are joking. Do you watch games

It is you who is the idiot if you think arteta brings nothing to the side. His determination and leadership are important not to forget that he’s done a good job protecting the defence long before flamini came back. Perhaps not as effective as flamini but a very important squad player none the less

I would like to see Santi in for Ozil because he needs some rest. I’d also like to see Verms get some time to give the BFG a break. I think a big reason he was off last year was the lingering back problem. He is rusty now, but the only way to knock that off is to get out there and play. I don’t want to be in a position where we are forced to play him due to an injury without such a long layoff.

While I agree it would be good to get Verm some action on the field, now is not the time to be risking our defensive solidity. After the Chelsea match fixtures will continue to come thick and fast and against lesser teams we will have the luxury of affording Verm some time to work out whatever issues he has and hopefully return to top form.

On another note, if Flamini is healthy we definitely need him in the squad to stop Ross Barkley’s marauding runs from the midfield and cut of supply up to to Mirallas and Lukaku. Tough call regarding Santi v. Wilshere v. Ozil… While I would like Ozil to get a rest, I’m not sure if this is the match to do it in as we need a win and need to be charging full steam ahead prior to the City match at the Etihad, which will be our most difficult of the campaign so far. But, Wenger knows best and I think Cazorla will take the field in place of Ozil either Sunday or mid-week against Napoli to ensure he is fresh for the City match next Saturday.

I’ll have carzola on the left and Wilshire on the right and use Walcott as a impact player until he is 100% fit plus I’ll have Flamini instead of arteta.

Everton will be tough and so are Mc and Chelsea. The blues ,imho, will harass and hustle the gunners to deny the latter less time and space to play the passing game. They will defend in numbers . So Arsenal shd shoot on sight and without warning to catch the defence off guard.
After that Napoli,MC and Chelsea.Ten points from these four games will be a good return.MC have won 7 games on the trot. At some point they will have to draw or lose.Btw,in the Hull game Ramsey went down in the box. I have seen penalties given for such incidents. I don’t know why.
As said before some of these refs may have an intense dislike for the gunners like the FA,
If Arsenal can win the epl,it will be quite an achievement considering the obstacles.

Carzola is not an effective left winger, we either buy a top striker in Jan or a LW.

    December 6, 2013 at 3:11 am

i would start szscesny sagna mertesacker koscielny gibbs ramsey arteta wilshire ozil cazorla

Arteta has the experience needed in such games.
Ozil,Rosicky,Carzola any one of them can play any position up front. Walcott should come into play 2nd half after tiring them(everton).

this isn’t the good time to experiment k. there is also a sayin that you dont change ur winning team. we av to go into de game with all our arsenals so we can do de kill. really don’t expect many changes to be made unless an injury cause that.

Always hated Arteta.. Very average, and this current crop is far from average! He is poor defensively and scarily slow. The less he features, the more fluent we are. Not really a proper gooner either- no mates in the dressing room. Mediocre. And The Arsenal are in a very different place right now.

I think the team is Ok..but just a small piece of advise-Ozil should get little fittines as you can observe from his last plays.
He is a very talented young player only fittines needed..
Walcott need much time in the pitch to get back to his best.
About jenkinson he just need confidence in himself things will be perfect with him
