Man Utd v Arsenal Preview, Injury News, Preferred XI & Prediction

By on November 9, 2013

Arsenal end a huge week with a trip to take on Manchester United at Old Trafford this Sunday.

We are sitting top of table, two points above second placed Liverpool and a full eight ahead of United so this really is a huge game for both clubs.

A win and we’ll boast an 11 point advantage over the defending champions but lose and they will be right back in the mix.

There is no reason we shouldn’t be confident after excellent victories over Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund and let’s face it, this isn’t the United we grew to hate under Sir Alex Ferguson. They look vulnerable at the back and this is the best chance we’ve had in years to get one over them at Old Trafford.

Our away form has also been exemplary, not losing in 14 games, so United should be the ones fearing playing us this time around.

Injury News

Mathieu Flamini is expected to be back in the squad and I’d like to see him come straight back in to the starting eleven. I feel we’ve missed his tenacity in the middle of the park in recent games and Arsene Wenger seems to favour the Flamini-Arteta axis.

A late check will be made on Jack Wilshere but I really don’t see him starting even if he’s passed fit. Tomas Rosicky was immense in midweek, while the guile of Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil will rip United’s timid defence to shreds, so I see a place among the subs as the best Jack can hope for tomorrow.

Theo Walcott should be back after the international break so is out along with Podolski, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Diaby.

As for United, they will be missing Danny Welbeck while Rafael, Jonny Evans and Michael Carrick could return.

Preferred XI

Here’s the team I’d go with:

Rosicky doesn’t deserve to be dropped but we can’t bench Ramsey and I think Wenger will go with Falmini and Arteta in the middle to keep things tight.

Prediction

We are the form team and have an excellent chance to put another nail in their title defence, and I think we’ll take it.

Man Utd 1-2 Arsenal

I am satisfied to win with one goal but tomorrow we have to be as good and clever as we were against Dortmund then we will win, no place to mistake and I believe Wenger will say to our squad that they may not be naive like we played against Chelsea.

Well, man u has always beaten Arsenal @ home. The last time Arsenal won man u @old trafford was sep.17, 2006. Bitter as it may sound, Arsenal has away record this season & even their current form can’t b over-emphasize. Manu has lost @home this season and we ar just trying 2 pick form. There4, the best result we’ll get from d game is a draw or Arsenal’ll take d day.
