Wenger Confirms Bad Injury News Regarding Cazorla & Giroud

By on September 14, 2013

Some hugely disappointing, and worrying, injury news tonight Gooners with boss Arsene Wenger confirming that Santi Cazorla is set to be out of action until mid-October and he’s concerned Olivier Giroud has also picked up a knee injury.

Cazorla missed today’s win at Sunderland with an ankle injury picked up while away with Spain and it was thought he’d be back to face Marseille in midweek.

However, it seems that was rather optimistic with Wenger claiming after the game today that the Spaniard is set for a spell on the sidelines and he doesn’t expect his to feature again before the next international break, which would rule him out until the Norwich game on the 19th October – missing six games in the process.

Wenger said after the game:

“Cazorla has an ankle problem. He will be out for a few weeks as well.

“I don’t think he will play before the next international break.” Wenger is quoted as saying by Goal

There were also worrying scenes in the closing minutes today with Giroud receiving treatment for a knee injury, and Wenger is also concerned he’s set to lose his only fit striker.

“That’s my worry [that Giroud is injured], today, after the game,” he said. “We are very thin at the moment.

“It’s a knee problem. He is the player at the moment who we cannot lose.”

It really is becoming something of a joke. We just can’t seem to keep players fit these days. We already have Mikel Arteta, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lukas Podolski, Abou Diaby, Per Mertesacker, Yaya Sanogo and Tomas Rosicky unavailable, and now we’re adding Cazorla and potentially Giroud to the list. Who else can boast an injury list like this?

With the addition of Ozil, we could just about make do without Cazorla as long as we don’t pick up any more injuries (which let’s face it, is unlikely), but there’s no way we can survive without Giroud for any length of time. We simply don’t have the back-up.

Podolski was the only serious alternative, but he’s out for about another 5-6 weeks. Sanogo is nowhere near ready even if he was fit. Walcott is the likely candidate to play through the middle, but then who plays on the right?

I hate to say it, but we’re already seeing the effects of our inactivity in the summer window. Ozil and Flamini were great pieces of business, but to not sign a winger and another striker was suicide by Wenger.

Fingers crossed we get some good news on Giroud but this just shows how precarious our striker situation is.

seems to me, a physio, that whatever arsenal are doing to prepare for matches isn’t working. i know this doesn’t account for unlucky challenges from opposition, but its as though the squad is made of glass.

We have Bendtner on Standby, lets give that fellow some confident. I am sure he wants to do well as well so that he could potentially have some suitors in the January window?

We are really thin at the moment, and I hope Mertesacker is ready to be back for Marseille. And Arteta is starting to be back in training soon right? Lets cross our fingers and hope that Giroud is not suffering from any damaging knee injury.

Arsenal is currently top, lets maintain that form!!

Now i think he’s seeing his actions is costing us? He won’t get a striker. Sometimes i tink Wenger is very stupid in his ideas n should retire now b4 he cost more damage.

We have Gnabry 2 cover 4 d right while Walcott, Bendtner, Park n Akpom can play tru d middle. We just hope no further injuries occur n our style of play may help us manage some wins n draws. We cn’t afford 2 lose games agn if we must challenge 4 trophies. Fingers crossed. COYG!!!

With Giroud limping off injured today, I reckon Wenger should just put Ramsey up front against Marseille on Wednesday. What with the way he’s been finding the back of the net. Squad is looking thin, though, but Le Prof has a plan.

Some of these comments are stupid. I could recall so many negative comments about injury before the Sunderland game but here we are. Leave Wenger alone, he reels with experience and a veteran so he knows his players and what to do to deliever. I would advise that fans who are have no hope of the team achieving success with what we have can shift support to the billionaire teams. Borusia Dortmund is a replica of Arsenal, not a large squad but technical and committed players . The only difference is that the fans are committed, always supporting, never insultive or abuse like most idiots who say they are Arsenal fans when in fact they are worse than enemies.

You nailed it! Let all the sulking fans shift support Spurs perhaps. I remember a day to the Fulham Spurs Game when as a true fan who bleeds Red&White I predicted a 3-0 win the The Arsenal some gooners sneered @me & they couldn’t understand my optimism! Well, my argument was based on the fact that we seem to be creating & converting chances while until then – The Tots were yet to score from open play & in all likelyhood, I didn’t see them winning a spot kick against us – they never did. Had we been more clinical with our chances my prediction could very well have come true. Lloris had a good day in the office no doubt! But faint-hearted could not even see Ramsey’s fine form! Sulking Gooners you should be gone!

I’m sick and tired of these bloody international breaks. Before Cazorla came to Arsenal he hardly ever got a game for Spain, now the Spain manager plays him in every game for every minute. Arsenal always contribute to their own failures, whether it be silly mistakes during games or frustrating injuries all the time.

Giroud is fine. Even then we have Bendtner as backup, all he needs is some confidence n d chance to prove he still has what it takes. Akpoom also an alternative. Gooners rock!!

We just can’t seem to keep players fit these days. – wtf!!!! so any and every injury problem that happens is because the club cant keep players fit, even if they pick up knocks while being on a different continent? If you cant analyze stuff and be objective, why pour your vomit online?
It is also interesting to note that you were able to get the whole article written, edited (i am assuming here, could be more like spell-checked in your case) and posted between wenger’s statement and giroud’s tweet. Wow!!!
