Report: Arsenal Set To Trigger £22m Fellaini Release Clause

By on July 30, 2013

As I, like the majority of Arsenal fans, sit here scouring the internet for news of potential summer signings, I came across an interesting story that claims we’re ready to trigger Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini’s £22m release clause.

The giant Belgian was strongly linked with a move to the Emirates at the very start of the summer but we appeared to put any potential move on the back-burner as we concentrated our efforts on trying to sign a marquee striker.

However, with our pursuit of Liverpool’s Luis Suarez stalling due to a conflict over his supposed ‘clause’, it appears we’re ready to renew our interest in Fellaini.

Understandably, Everton are desperate to hang on to the 25-year-old but they can do little to stop him leaving if Arsenal submit a formal offer of £22m before the 13th August – the date that his release clause expires.

A defensive minded midfielder is vitally important this summer and Fellaini would be a superb signing. He’s powerful, talented, the right age, has plenty of Premier League experience and he’d jump at the chance to play for us. He’d also provide a physical presence at the heart of our midfield that been sorely missed in recent years, so I personally hope this reports is true.

There have also been suggestions that new Manchester United manager David Moyes is also eyeing a move for the Belgian international now he’s (finally) given up hope of signing Cesc Fabregas, so we better get a move on because I could see the player opting for a switch to Old Trafford to link up with his former boss if he gets the chance.

Would you like to see Fellaini come to the club this summer? If not, what midfielder would you like us to go for?

Doubt if we can get suarez… Lfp is not ready to sell him even if we bid 70M cant you see… Think we should start to consider plan B… Torres for 10 or Dzeko for 12 or loan wont be bad… Let us finish strong this season then we go back for suarez next season…

I amp sure u a glory hunter disguised as a supporter. U talk as if u have ever managed a street football team talk less of a proper football club. It doesn’t only take a club willing to buy for a transfer to happen both clubs and player have to agree before it can happen. Why has Man U failed in all their transfer attempts so far. The press and your likes won’t take any notice of that. The window is not closed so lets see where we are when it does close. I am very sure that you will be the first to turn around and hail wenger if the deal eventually happens without apologizing for for current comments and ill informed position.

Yes he won just 3 epl trophies when he newly arrived because of quality players he inherited but then he could no more win any epl trophy because he lacks the skill to replace those players such as he inherited and that means a sign of failure in management. Moreover, he was sacked at monaco and also sacked at a japanese club my fellow gunners wenger is overhyped

Am fed up with all ds runours. Unless any of ds targets have his medical done I will never belief any story posted. Initially it was Fellaini that arsenal wanted to trigger his release clause, it was later Higuain set to have his medical, later comes Bernard medical to b done last Friday and not forgeting Jovetic. Now come Suarez. What are we going to believe? I pray we sign a good striker

Arsenal board&Arsene wenger have never been serious when it’s to buying players.what wenger does is to price for other managers to buy.imagine wenger saying that there is no talent in europe 2 buy.the fan should jst forget abt Arsenal with their logic.

Wenger should stop making noise at the press saying he want to sign or is it not a shame to him for 8 years without no trophy, what makes me cry is that he said being in fourth place is like winning a trophy, do it mean that arsenal can’t sign a top player or what?

Mr Wenger please get hold of Fellani as soon as possible. No further delay! Forget about Suarez. Just go for Fellani. We don’t need anymore striker! If we can beat Bayern at home why we still need a striker. Don’t waste time and money for Suarez. Worth to spend in getting FELLANI..my dear Mr Wenger..
