Report: Luis Suarez To Tell Liverpool He Wants To Join Arsenal

By on July 20, 2013

According to reports today, Luis Suarez is set to inform Liverpool that he wants to join Arsenal this summer.

The Uruguayan hitman has emerged as Arsene Wenger’s No.1 target after a deal for Gonzalo Higuain stalled when Real Madrid upped their asking price from £25m to £37m, and it seems Suarez is ready to try and push through a move to the Emirates.

The Mirror claim that Suarez is due to link-up with the rest of the Liverpool squad at their pre-season training camp in Melbourne this weekend, and he’s expected to personally ask Brendan Rodgers to let him join Arsenal.

The newspaper suggest that Wenger is growing increasingly confident he can lure the controversial striker away from Anfield and will table an improved offer once Suarez has made his feelings clear to Rodgers.

Our opening offer of around £35m including add ons was rejected by the Reds last week so our new bid is likely to be in the region of £40m. What a £40m bid means is still unclear with Suarez’s agent claiming it will activate a clause in the players contract that will allow him to leave, whereas Liverpool are adamant that they only have to inform him of the offer and are under no obligation to sell for that price.

The former Ajax man initially had his heart set on a move to Real Madrid but the Spaniard’s are refusing to pay above £25m, making any deal extremely unlikely unless they were to throw in some players as well in exchange.

So if Suarez is desperate for a move, Arsenal are his only viable option at present. Of course the likes of PSG, Monaco, Madrid or even Chelsea could come in with a serious offer, but as of now we look to be in pole position.

Liverpool are going to do all they can to persuade the striker to stay, or at the very least reject Arsenal, as we’re probably the last club they want to sell to if they have any aspirations of breaking into the top four.

2 key points here: 1 why would be go to a club that hasn’t won a trophy in 9 years and 2 Arsenal can’t afford the £55m Liverpool value him at. £30m was a joke and £40m is too. For everyone who reads the tabloids, there is no release clause of £40m, LFC have confirmed his.

The simple answer to your questions is that Liverpool’s valuation of Luis is wrong while Luis wants to play champions league football. The value of Luis to Liverpool is actually in the region of $10 million considering his disciplinary record. The club suffers more on the pitch than they gain as long as Luis remains in their books. It therefore makes sense for Liverpool to accept anything above what they paid when they bought him.

Mate arsenal are on a different level now, you talk of us not winning anything in 9 years but look what we have achieved off the field. All those shitty commercial deals that arsenal had to enter into, just so that we could fund the move to the state of the art 60000 seater emirates stadium made competing on the field very difficult. But arsenal still managed to hold there status as a champions league football team, that’s more than can be said for liverpool. Don’t you find it rather ironic that arsenal stopped winning cups as soon as the move took place? We have basically been competing with one hand tied behind our backs for 8 years. But that is now over for us we have the biggest kit sponsorship deal in English football next season and have just renewed the stadium naming rights for 150 million over 5 years. My friend I don’t no how to break this to you ..arsenal have around 80 million in transfer founds every years for the next 10 years,. Regardless of who we sell or what we achieve on or off the field. As I said arsenal are a different prospect than 8 years ago. And we’ll liverpool?.. Ahh mate :s

Thanks for the history lesson and l did note the word “has” in there too and check yr facts m8 1 fa cup (2006) and 1 carling cup (2012) hardly amounts to countless trophies since we won the fa cup in 2005

Do you have to work on being this thick and ignorant or does it come naturaly ? You write Arsenal should of been spending big years ago? Arsenal since moving to Emirates stadium, were financialy constrained due to commitment to pay for the stadium, everyone’s aware of that apart from you. Why don’t you think before you open you stupid ignorant mouth.

His footballing value may well be £60m but he also carries a troublemaker anchor to the tune of -£20m.

Liverpool scored more points per game without him playing last year. So sure you want to keep him?

Liverpool have confirmed there is a clause in his contract but say it only means they have to inform him of the offer should it reach 40 million.
His agents say its a 40 million release clause which makes more sense as who would agree to a clause that only lets you knw of any offer with no obligation to sell

    • h

      July 20, 2013 at 2:48 pm

The clause is he is allowed to talk with club and wehave to inform him of any offer
…….thats all …we dont have to sell…and CERTAINLY not for $40 million. ….hes worth more than cavani and is better than cavani….his national side know it and so does anyone that knows anything about football…….his misdemeanors mean nothing in the scheme of things….there will still be a queue round the block to sign him

Really u think a player would ask for a clause in his contract stating that if a certain amount is bid he is told of it but cant do anything else seems a pointless clause to me surely if he wanted a clause in the contract it would be one which he is able to use to his advantage

If he goes….and its still if as we hold all the cards…..the likeliest scenario is madrid in a player plus cash…I think higuain and $20 mill is not far short of what may happen IF Liverpool want it to…no one with any sense thinks he will goto arsenal……..wengers plan to hurry madrid over higuain has backfired……and besides suarez himself has said he wants to leave the prdmiership so has in effect killed any english move

      July 20, 2013 at 5:48 pm

Funny cos lve read he is very open to a move to Arsenal an Higuian wants CL football so jus cos Real offer him in part exchange doesnt mean he will agree to it

Suarez has a chance to enjoy d football that all south Americans crave for (wengrball) alongside santi, jack,ox,wallcort….gunners’ll smash teams & win trophies. Luis can sense it so LFC collect d money.
