Arsenal make £43m attacker bid, club ready to accept – reports

By on August 20, 2016

According to Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Arsenal have made a £43m (€50m) bid for Julian Draxler and Wolfsburg are ready to accept.

Arsene Wenger is looking to bring in a centre-back before the window closes at the end of the month but another top class forward is also on the agenda.

Ideally, we need to sign a striker but there are suggestions that Wenger is planning to use Alexis Sanchez through the middle more this season meaning we could bring in a wide attacker instead.

Draxler would fit the bill perfectly and the German international has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal once again this summer with Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol claiming earlier this month that the player wanted to join Arsenal after going public with his desire to leave Wolfsburg this summer.

He tweeted:

Julian Draxler due back training with Wolfsburg today. Told he wants to join Arsenal. Gave interview to Bild to try & force through move

Wolfsburg issued a statement insisting that the 22-year-old would not be sold this summer, however, according to TuttoMercatoWeb Arsenal have now formalised our interest in Draxler and the German club are supposedly ready to accept our £43m (€50m) bid.

Who knows how much truth there is behind this report but Arsene is clearly struggling to buy a striker so perhaps he is now planning to use Sanchez through the middle and bring in someone like Draxler to replace him out on the wing.

The boss dropped a big hint that he’s now ready to use Sanchez as a striker after being quoted in the Mirror as saying today:

“He [Sanchez] is, technically, top. He has similar qualities (to Suarez). And he has a good timing to run behind the defenders.

“I think yes (it could be a long term option to play him as a striker). I think it is worth a try as he has the quality to go behind. He has played centre-forward at Barcelona.

“On the flanks he uses a lot of energy by chasing back and I would like to use his energy sometimes a bit more efficiently by going behind the defenders as he is a good finisher.”

Many fans have taken this is a clear sign that we’re not buying a striker, which might be true, but it could also mean that we’ll instead bring in a wide attacker and if that is the new plan then I’d love to see us sign Draxler.

He’s a supreme talent and would give us something different in attack so if we aren’t going to buy a front-man, then let’s use our money to buy the German attacker.

We don’t need a striker. Wenger said as much recently, because you see Sanogo is still with us, and he’s “top top quality”. We’re doomed…

This manager is out of reality. He expects the transfer market to be dictated by him.Longevity is seldom practised in football though RF was in the role for 20 odd years. Then again he was not axed due to his success.
He has been at Arsenal for 20 years,a long time by football std especially if you aint winning.
Regardless of whether he buys anyone,if he doesnt start winning asap, the axe could finally fall on him.

Bonaroca:- I follow all these blogs which I think Mr Wenger enjoys reading
them because he has enough chance to pull the supporters’ legs by saying that
he is going to sign top players in this case a Centre M/Mid/F and a C/F.
He’s sure an expert at that, but has fallen back when it come to come up with
some new tactics to replace those he has been using for the last 20 years.

Why cant we ( fans ) boycot the Club and join another one so that when he leaves we come back to our Club, Aw is now very old he cannot cop-up with the new tak-tiks, thats why is saying he cant buy another striker when Yaya Sanogo and Akpom are there. Nonsense Arsene Wenger.
