Preview: Arsenal vs Swansea: Team News, Starting XI & Prediction
Arsenal take on Swansea City at the Emirates tonight looking to keep pace with Manchester City in the race for second.
City moved three points clear after thrashing QPR on Sunday but if we beat Swansea tonight we can move level on 73 points with a game in hand.
Victory would also see us move five points clear of fourth-placed Manchester United with a game in hand so we’d be in excellent shape to secure automatic Champions League qualification – which would be a welcome achievement as we wouldn’t have to worry about a tricky qualifier in August.
However, eight-placed Swansea aren’t going to be any pushovers and they’ve given us a lot of trouble in recent games so we’ll have to be at our best to get the three points tonight.
Team News
Aaron Ramsey is a doubt with a knock that he picked up against Hull last week but it’s not thought to be too serious.
Arsene has confirmed he’s ready to make some changes so the likes of Kieran Gibbs, Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott are pushing for recalls.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mikel Arteta are in training but won’t be considered for this game as they still lack match fitness.
Mathieu Debuchy is still struggling with a hamstring injury so Hector Bellerin will keep his place at right-back while Danny Welbeck is also still out with a knee injury.
Preferred XI
I’d like to see Gibbsy given a game at left-back and if Rambo is passed fit, he should start in midfield. If not, then let’s give Wilshere a start and rest Cazorla. I’d also like to see Theo given a rare run-out on the wing.
Prediction
We let slip a one-goal lead in the reverse fixture at the Liberty Stadium but we are in excellent form right now and I can see us winning this one comfortably this evening. Arsenal 3-0 Swansea
