Arsenal in fierce battle to sign FC Midtjylland’s Osorio
Arsenal are reportedly battling with Premier League rivals over a deal to sign FC Midtjylland forward Dario Osorio, as per TEAMtalk.
After moving to MCH Arena from Universidad de Chile in 2023, the 22-year-old initially featured as a rotational option before establishing himself as a key starter last campaign.
The youngster has already won a Danish Superliga title and League Cup with Midtjylland in recent years. He showed glimpses of his qualities last term, scoring six goals and registering eight assists across all competitions.
He has even enjoyed a bright start this season, notching up two assists in three league games. Having proven his worth in club football, Osorio has secured his place in the Chile national team’s starting line-up.
Now, TEAMtalk state that after being impressed by Osorio’s recent eye-catching performances, several clubs across Europe have expressed their interest in him.
Arsenal hold a long-standing interest in the South American as they have been on his trail since last summer. Apart from the Premier League champions, Liverpool, Everton and Leeds United have been monitoring his development closely. Moreover, AC Milan are in this race.
With the player’s existing deal set to run until 2030, Midtjylland aren’t in any rush to cash in on him, but they are a selling club and are prepared to let him leave for around £17m.
Osorio to Arsenal
The 22-year-old, standing at 6ft tall, is a left-footed right winger. He is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, has powerful ball-striking ability, and works hard without possession.
The youngster is a talented player and possesses high potential. So, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future should they purchase him.
However, Mikel Arteta already has Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke as options to deploy on the right flank. Moreover, Max Dowman can provide cover in this position if needed.
So, the Emirates club don’t need to invest more money to add further depth to this position unless anyone leaves. Instead, they would be better off saving the funds to reinforce other areas of the squad.
