Arsenal ‘in the race’ to sign Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi

By on January 14, 2026

Arsenal are reportedly ‘in the race’ to sign Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi, as per Sky Sports.

The Gunners are currently well-stocked in the centre-back position, having already got Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba, Cristhian Mosquera, and Piero Hincapié.

Moreover, although Ben White, Jurrien Timber, and Riccardo Calafiori have been featuring as fullbacks since moving to the Emirates Stadium, they are specialist centre-backs.

However, Mosquera has been out injured in recent weeks, while Hincapié sustained an injury against Liverpool last week. Moreover, Calafiori has had fitness issues since joining from Bologna and has been out in recent matches.

White has also struggled with injury issues since last season, while Saliba was ruled out last weekend due to an injury and is in doubt for today’s game vs Chelsea.

Furthermore, Gabriel has just returned to action after recovering from a muscular problem. So, it appears Mikel Arteta is considering adding a new defender.

Sky Sports report that Arsenal are ‘in the race’ to sign Guehi as a free agent next summer, but they will have to overcome fierce competition to lure him to the Emirates Stadium.

Liverpool and Manchester City are also in this race, with the Citizens pushing hard to secure his service in this winter window following Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol’s recent injuries. If they fail to sign the player this month, they are ready to sign him for free ahead of next season.

Guehi to Arsenal

The Reds remain keen on him despite failing to buy him last summer, and they are willing to seal the deal at the end of this season, instead of purchasing him this month.

Bayern Munich are plotting a swoop as well, and they can finalise a pre-contract agreement with the Englishman this month to secure his service as a free agent next summer.

The report say that although there is plenty of interest in the Crystal Palace star, valued at around £48m by Transfermarkt, no club is currently a frontrunner in this race.

It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to lure Guehi to the Emirates Stadium in the summer transfer window by defeating other clubs in this race.
