Ozil Update: Knee Injury NOT Serious
It may have been a joyful night for England fans, but thoughts quickly turned back to Arsenal matters when hearing about Mesut Ozil limping off during the closing stages of Germany’s 5-3 win over Sweden on Tuesday night.
Ozil had earlier scored and grabbed his usual assist before heading straight down the tunnel for treatment after being withdrawn in the 87th minute with an apparent knee injury.
Gooners were left holding their breath, fearing that the ‘Interlull’ curse had struck once again and we could be without our magnificent record signing for an extended period of time.
However, the early indications coming out of Germany suggest the injury is NOT serious with newspaper Bild claiming it is nothing more than bruising after Ozil received a kick to his right knee and he should be fit to face Norwich this Saturday.
I also saw rumours online that claimed Lukas Podolski had tweeted saying he had spoken to Mesut and the attacker assured him that he was fine, but the apparent tweet has since been deleted and nobody seems to have got a screenshot of it so I’ll take that with a huge pinch of salt for now.
Obviously losing Ozil would be a blow if he was ruled out, but at least we’d have Santi Cazorla to fill his boots. The Spaniard has returned to full training and is in line to return to the squad this weekend.
Hopefully Theo Walcott and Bacary Sagna won’t be too far behind and we’ll have a much stronger squad heading into some crucial games with Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.

We can’t afford to lose midfield maestro M.Ozil to any unfortunate injury. Quickest of recovery MO my man. Up Gunners, up ArseneW!
