BBC’s David Ornstein offers update on Arsenal’s bid to sign Yannick Carrasco

By on January 31, 2019

BBC journalist David Ornstein has offered an update on Arsenal’s pursuit of Yannick Carrasco and unfortunately it looks like the proposed deal is OFF.

Unai Emery is keen to add another winger to the squad before tonight’s 11pm deadline and we reportedly turned our attention to Carrasco after struggling to agree terms with Inter Milan for Ivan Perisic.

The Mirror reported yesterday that Arsenal chiefs were in talks with his current club Dalian Yifang about signing Carrasco on an initial loan but the Chinese Super League club favoured a permanent £35m deal.

Carrasco only joined Dalian Yifang from Atletico Madrid last year but he’s already agitating for a move back to Europe and Ornstein says we reached an agreement with the winger over a move to the Emirates.

However, the BBC journalist says the proposed deal if now off because Arsenal’s loan fee offer was deemed too low and AC Milan look to have tabled a superior offer to Dalian Yifang.

He tweeted:

So unless things change dramatically over the coming hours, it doesn’t look like Arsenal will be signing Carrasco and Ornstein suggested on Wednesday night that we’re now focussing our attention on signing PSG’s Christopher Nkunku.

The 21-year-old’s agent has confirmed we’re in talks with PSG over an initial loan deal for the versatile midfielder but time is running out if we’re to get a move wrapped-up before the window slams shut at 11pm tonight.
