Arsenal offered chance to sign Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge

According to Goal, the agent of Daniel Sturridge has offered Arsenal the chance to sign the Liverpool striker on loan for the rest of the season.

Sturridge has become increasingly disgruntled at Anfield having fallen out-of-favour under Jurgen Klopp and has recently complained about being played out on the wing when he is selected.

The 26-year-old is behind Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi in the pecking order and was distinctly unimpressed when Klopp opted to bring on Origi before him during last weekends 1-1 draw at Tottenham.

It’s led to speculation that Sturridge may look for a move late in the window and Goal are reporting that the strikers agent has made contact with Arsenal to offer us the chance to sign the England international on loan.

The report doesn’t indicate how we responded to the offer, however, they do say that Liverpool have no interest in letting Sturridge leave and certainly not to join a top four rival.

I have no idea why an agent would offer a client around if his club has no interest in letting him leave as that would be a complete waste of everybody’s time, but that’s what Goal are claiming.

Perhaps Sturridge is keen for a move – which wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest – and they wanted to assess Arsenal’s interest before approaching Liverpool, but it’a no surprise the Merseysiders have no intention in letting him leave.

Despite his fitness concerns, Sturridge is a class player and it would be madness to let him leave on loan. I mean, what kind of top club would let an England international in his prime leave on loan?! [Hint, Arsenal with Wilshere]

So as much as I’d love to see Sturridge come to Arsenal, there is virtually no chance it will happen.
