Key trio recalled in 4-2-3-1 line-up: My Arsenal XI to face Palace
Arsenal desperately need a win to close the gap on Tottenham when we take on Crystal Palace at the Emirates on Sunday….this is the team I’d like to see Arsene Wenger go with.
Goalkeeper: Cech
Cech was inexplicably left on the bench against West Ham last week. Let’s not make the same mistake again, eh Arsene.
Defence: Bellerin, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Monreal
Gabriel has done okay in recent weeks but let’s face it, it was a mistake to leave Mertesacker out against the Hammers as he would have been far more capable of dealing with Andy Carroll.
Palace also have plenty of aerial threat in Adebayor and Wickham so I think it’s sensible to say Mertesacker should come in to join Koscielny, Bellerin and Monreal in the back four on Sunday.
Midfield: Coquelin, Ramsey
Elneny has been excellent since coming in to the side but we need to change things up after last week’s disappointment and that should see Ramsey come back in alongside Coquelin in midfield.
Wilshere will step-up his return by making another appearance for the under-21’s on Monday but for now he remains unavailable along with Cazorla and Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Attack: Iwobi, Ozil, Sanchez
Iwobi continued his meteoric rise with another superb display at Upton Park after setting up the opening two goals so he deserves to keep his place in attack alongside Ozil and Sanchez.
Walcott made little impact off the bench last week and doesn’t deserve to start while Campbell has been restricted to cameo’s appearances in recent weeks, but they will both be available off the bench if needed.
Striker: Welbeck
Welbeck was pretty quiet against West Ham but his pace and movement will cause Palace plenty of problems so I’d keep him up front ahead of Giroud.
This would be my line-up:
This side is more than capable of beating Palace on Sunday. A win would see us move to within three points of Tottenham and put the pressure on ahead of their game at Stoke on Monday night. Let’s not waste this opportunity….
