‘Wenger Want’s To Sign Me’ – Midfielder Claims Arsenal Interest

Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama has told reporters that Arsene Wenger has made it clear we wants to take him to Arsenal this summer.

The boss is believed to be on the look-out for another defensive-minded midfielder and Wanyama is one of the names being touted in the media.

The Kenyan international has now been quoted as telling the Sun that Arsene has made it clear he’d like to sign him and the midfielder appears open to the move after calling Arsenal a ‘great club’ and admitting he wants to play in the Champions League.

“Wenger has been talking about me. And he has let it be known he would like to sign me this summer,” Wanyama told The Sun.

“Arsenal are a great club and I’d love to play Champions League football as I loved being on that stage with Celtic.

“But we’ve had a fantastic season at Saints and I want to stay focused on helping the club qualify for Europe.

“Then we’ll see where I end up in the summer.”

Wanyama has been excellent for Southampton since joining the club from Celtic in 2013 and I’d be happy to see the 23-year-old come to the Emirates this summer.

However, my first choice would still be his team-mate Morgan Schneiderlin as I think he’d be a better overall fit for Arsenal as he’s far more comfortable on the ball.

But if we can’t get a deal agreed for the Frenchman for any reason, then Wanyama would certainly be a decent alternative.
