Arsenal will be looking to put some distance between us and the two Manchester clubs when we take on Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday evening.
The 4-1 win over Liverpool last weekend has put some daylight between us and fifth-place with the Merseysiders now 9 points adrift with a far worse goal-difference.
So perhaps it’s time to stop worrying about finishing in the top four and concentrate on finishing second. Realistically, the title is beyond us as Chelsea are seven clear with a game in hand, but second is now ours to lose.
We’ve won our last seven league games on the spin and no team has won eight in a row all season, so we’ve got the opportunity to set a new record.
However, despite sitting 19th in the division, Burnley can be a tough side to play away from home so nothing should be taken for granted tomorrow night.
Team News
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remains out after picking up a groin injury that’s expected to keep him out for at least two weeks.
Laurent Koscielny faces a late fitness test on a thigh injury he suffered against Liverpool last week and I wouldn’t take any risks with him.
Wojciech Szczesny also faces a late test on a rib injury that saw him miss out last weekend, but he should return to take up his place on the bench.
Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Debuchy and Abou Diaby are all back in contention after recovering from their long-term injuries, but I don’t expect any to start tomorrow.
Preferred Line-Up
I’d give Koscielny a rest and start Gabriel at the back while I’d also give Gibbs a run-out to keep him match sharp.
Arsene has a selection headache in midfield but I’d go with Ramsey alongside Coquelin and rest Cazorla, while Welbeck should get the nod on the right-wing.
Prediction
Arsenal are on a fantastic run and playing with confidence so we really should be beating the team that sits 19th in the table. Burnley will no doubt put up a good fight, but I expect us to come away with all three points.
Burnley 0-2 Arsenal
