Arsenal now eyeing move for Como left winger Jesus Rodríguez

By on March 7, 2026

Arsenal are plotting a swoop to sign Spanish left winger Jesus Rodríguez from Como next summer, according to Sports Boom.

The 20-year-old came through the ranks at Real Betis academy before making his first-team debut for the Andalusian outfit in the 6-1 Copa del Rey win over CD Gévora on 31 October 2024.

He remained part of Manuel Pellegrini’s first team, featuring in 32 games across all competitions, and was part of the Betis squad that faced Chelsea in the UEFA Conference League final.

In a bid to secure regular playing time, the left winger agreed to join Como and has since been a revelation in Italy, providing 11 goal contributions in all competitions and playing a key role in Cesc Fabregas’ side’s ambitious European pursuit this season.

According to Sports Boom, Rodriguez’s performances have caught the attention of several Premier League and European clubs, including Arsenal.

The report adds that the Gunners’ board view the Spaniard as a viable option to add depth and competition to the flanks alongside Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.

Having scouted the versatile winger, feedback from the club’s scouts suggests his runs in behind opponents’ defence make him ‘100% fit’ for Mikel Arteta’s dynamic attacking style of play at the Emirates, Sports Boom adds.

‘100% fit’ for Arteta

However, Arsenal are not alone in the race, as the report claims that Premier League rivals Manchester City have shortlisted him among their list of summer targets, while Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are also keeping close tabs on the one-cap Spanish international.

Amid interest from the Gunners, Sports Boom reports that Como have no intention of selling the attacking ace and have set a valuation of £39-£47m, which could spark a bidding war between Arsenal and City.

Rodriguez is a versatile winger who can slot in seamlessly into any attacking position, although he has predominantly been utilised on the left by Fabregas, where he has proved effective.

Beyond his flair, dribbling and creativity, the youngster also possesses a relentless work ethic off the ball, where he persistently presses the opposition and shows a high tenacity in constantly chasing and picking up loose balls, making him a good fit for Arteta’s football.

With Leandro Trossard set to turn 32 in December and a year left on his contract, Rodriguez would be a viable option to slowly integrate into the first team and potentially phase out the Belgian when he departs the club.
