Mikel Arteta faced the media on Friday at the Sobha Realty Training Centre ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League trip to Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening.

The Gunners head to the City Ground looking to keep their title push on track and build further momentum at the top of the table.

Arsenal currently sit first in the league with 49 points from 21 matches, placing them in a strong position as they’re six points clear of Man City and Aston Villa.

The meeting with Forest comes during a demanding spell, with Arsenal playing four games away from home in quick succession.

Arteta, however, remained calm and focused as he addressed different topics surrounding the upcoming fixture.

Injury situation remains under review

Injuries have been a constant issue for Arsenal this season, forcing changes and careful planning from the coaching staff.

Despite those setbacks, the team have continued to find solutions and maintain strong results across competitions.

Arteta was asked whether any injured players could return in time for the Forest game with Cristhian Mosquera, Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie currently on the treatment table.

He explained that decisions would only be made after further discussions and training assessments.

It might be, so I need to meet now with the medical staff. We have a training session now to see if somebody is available for the weekend.”

When pressed on which players could be involved, the Spaniard chose to keep details private.

I can’t tell you.”

When quizzed on if there are fresh injury concerns, he replied “No

Medical updates and training feedback will shape the final squad selection.

Managing a heavy run of away matches

Arsenal have already played their last two games away from home and still face another trip to Inter Milan after the Forest clash. That sequence has increased the need for careful planning and squad rotation.

Arteta was questioned about preparing for four away games in a row and how it affects player availability. He admitted planning is helpful, but not always possible during such periods.

He also explained that ideal plans often change due to form, fitness, and match demands.

In certain things, yes, and especially looking at the opponent and the things we’re going to be able to train that we can replicate in those games.”

Sometimes, ideally we want to plan: ‘Ok for this game, we think this player could be better and the load,’ and some other times it’s just impossible – you have to go game by game.”

The Arsenal boss highlighted a recent positive shift within the squad. More players are now returning, which gives him stronger options across positions.

We have more players back now, we have better options and that’s very helpful because obviously we’ve been giving gametime to almost every player.”

That depth, according to Arteta, has been vital during a long and testing season. It allows the team to stay competitive while managing physical demands.

As Arsenal prepare for another tough away test, the focus remains on balance, fitness, and steady progress. All attention now turns to Nottingham Forest, with final decisions expected after the last training session.
