Arsenal have reportedly taken ‘formal steps’ to sign LOSC Lille youngster Ayyoub Bouaddi, as per a recent French report.

Having finished second in the last three Premier League campaigns, the Gunners are favourites to win the league finally this season, sitting at the top with a six-point lead with 17 matches left to play.

Mikel Arteta’s side are currently at the summit of the Champions League table, having won all six matches. They are the only club to achieve that feat this term.

Furthermore, Arsenal are on course to reach the final of the Carabao Cup after defeating Chelsea 3-2 in the semi-final first leg in midweek. Now, they will have to finish the job at the Emirates Stadium in the second leg next month.

The Gunners have even reached the fourth round of the FA Cup after defeating Portsmouth last weekend and will face off against Wigan Athletic in mid February.

Therefore, Arsenal have an opportunity to win the quadruple this season, which hasn’t been achieved by any English club.

Meanwhile, despite spending big money last summer, it appears the North London club are planning to remain active in this winter window to hand Arteta the necessary tools to win big silverware this season.

Bouaddi to Arsenal

As per a recent French report (via the Mirror), Arsenal are keen on purchasing Bouaddi after being impressed by his recent eye-catching performances in Ligue 1.

However, Arteta’s side aren’t the only club interested in the 18-year-old as Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Real Madrid are all keen on him.

Arsenal have already taken ‘formal steps’ to sign him in January by defeating other clubs in this race. The youngster is valued at around £43m with his existing deal set to run until 2029.

Bouaddi is a defensive midfielder by trait but is also comfortable in the box-to-box role. He is quick across the ground, strong, has an eye for long-range passing, and is also efficient in defensive contributions.

The Frenchman is considered one of the best young midfield talents in the world and would be a great coup for Arsenal should they eventually manage to secure his service before the February 2nd transfer deadline.
