Arsenal keep close eye on Marc Guehi ahead of summer move
Arsenal continue to monitor Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi as they plan ahead for the upcoming summer transfer window, according to The Athletic.
The report claims that the north London club have retained a long-term interest in the England defender as a future option.
Mikel Arteta remains focused on improving his defensive unit as Arsenal aim to stay competitive across all competitions next season.
As per the report, Arsenal have already held internal discussions about a possible move and have held talks with Guehi’s representatives.
The club are aware the defender’s situation could change quickly as his current contract is in its final year.
Guehi has been a key figure for Crystal Palace, showing strong leadership and calm defending throughout several Premier League seasons.
Arsenal assess defensive plans for next season
Arteta is understood to be planning early, with defensive stability remaining a core part of Arsenal’s playing style and long-term vision.
Guehi’s ability to play in a high line and remain composed under pressure is viewed as a major positive by Arsenal scouts.
The defender would be competing alongside established names such as Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba, and Ricardo Calafiori.
That depth could prove vital as Arsenal continue to compete in domestic and European competitions next season.
Arteta also values versatility, and Guehi has shown he can adapt to different defensive roles when required.
Arsenal are not in a rush but want to be prepared if the chance to move becomes realistic during the summer.
Strong competition for Guehi signature
However, Arsenal face stiff competition for his signature. Liverpool remain interested in Guehi, although their focus is expected to be after the current season ends rather than now.
The defender came close to joining Liverpool late last September before Palace decided to halt the move on deadline day. Palace were keen to keep their captain for the rest of the campaign due to his importance both on and off the pitch.
Guehi’s contract is set to expire on June 30, which could influence Palace’s approach in the coming months. He is valued at £48m by Transfermarkt so it would be a bargain for any club to sign him for free in the summer.
Arsenal are aware that Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, and Barcelona are also monitoring his situation closely, as per the report.
A move could also offer the defender a reunion with former teammate Eberechi Eze at a higher competitive level.
For now, Arsenal remain watchful, patient, and prepared as they plan carefully for another important summer window.
