Arsenal to battle Real Madrid in race for Khephren Thuram
Arsenal are ready to compete with Real Madrid for the signing of Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram, according to reports from Fichajes.
The French international has been a consistent performer in Italy since his switch to Juventus in 2024.
His strong displays have now caught the attention of several European giants, with Fichajes claiming that Arsenal are among the clubs showing a keen interest.
However, they’ll face stiff competition as the report says Real Madrid are also in the race to sign Thuram while Liverpool are another top club eyeing the Frenchman.
Arsenal keen to strengthen midfield
Arsenal’s recruitment team remain focused on refreshing Mikel Arteta’s midfield over the coming transfer windows.
The Gunners have been linked to Thuram and believe his qualities fit perfectly with the club’s style of play.
However, they will now face tough competition from Real Madrid. Xabi Alonso, who is looking to strengthen and bring new energy to his midfield, has reportedly identified Thuram as one of his key summer targets.
Juventus are in no rush to sell. The Italian side view the midfielder as a vital part of their project and have placed a £61 million valuation on his head, as per the report.
Despite their financial stability, a significant offer could tempt them to enter negotiations before the summer window opens.
Thuram’s growing reputation in Italy
Thuram joined Juventus for around £22 million in 2024 and quickly became a regular starter.
During the 2024/25 campaign, he featured in 51 matches across all competitions, including the Club World Cup.
He contributed five goals and eight assists, further underlining his influence in midfield. His performances have not gone unnoticed.
Liverpool are also thought to be keeping a close eye on the Frenchman as they continue to search for midfield stability. The Merseyside club see him as a possible long-term solution in their rebuild.
Thuram’s playing style makes him an attractive option for many top sides. He is known for his strength, energy, and ability to carry the ball through midfield.
His control under pressure, combined with his skill in breaking lines, allows him to turn defence into attack with ease.
The 24-year-old can operate both as a defensive midfielder and as a box-to-box option.
His mix of power, vision, and composure has drawn comparisons to former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Touré.
The race for Khephren Thuram’s signature is expected to intensify, with Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Liverpool all keen to land one of Europe’s most complete young midfielders.
