Arsenal have received a major boost in their long-term interest in Italian defender Michael Kayode, after the player’s agent hinted at a possible move to a bigger club.

The 21-year-old right-back has made a strong impression since joining Brentford, and his agent’s latest comments may have opened the door for Mikel Arteta’s side to reignite their pursuit.

Agent hints at possible move to top club

According to FootballTransfers, Arsenal have a long standing interest in Kayode.

The latest statement from his representative, Andrea Ritorni, now appears to give them encouragement to make a move.

Kayode first gained attention during the 2023/24 campaign with Fiorentina, where his energetic performances attracted interest from several European clubs.

He later secured a loan move to Brentford, which included a £15 million buy option.

The transfer became permanent after he impressed during his spell under Thomas Frank, and he has since become one of new boss Keith Andrews’ key players this season.

Speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb, Ritorni praised his client’s growth and potential.

He’s doing great and is having an extraordinary run,” the agent said.

He added that Kayode is now in peak physical condition and improving his technical sharpness.

He’s now finding his best physical condition, and he’s ‘cleaning up’ his ball control. He arrived in January and made 12 appearances under Thomas Frank, a great coach. Under Keith Andrews, he also immediately got a lot of playing time, starting seven out of seven games.”

Ritorni further revealed that he believes Kayode is destined for bigger things.

In the future, I see him taking another step towards a top club. Not that Brentford isn’t one, but I see him going even higher. He’s now thrilled with the standing he’s enjoying in the English scene.

He continued by praising the player’s mentality and defensive awareness.

He has a world ahead of him if he continues like this. Tactically, he’s changed a lot. Against Man City, he was excellent at marking. He needs to improve his first touch. Physically, he has an extraordinary engine.”

Arsenal’s interest could be revived

Kayode’s profile fits perfectly with Arteta’s preferred system.

He is an athletic full-back with great energy and defensive strength.

His pace, stamina, and ability to recover quickly make him reliable in one-on-one duels.

The Italian U21 international also supports attacks with quick overlapping runs and powerful long throws.

His ability to balance defensive duties with attacking transitions makes him an ideal fit for Arsenal’s tactical style.

With his agent publicly backing a move to a “top club”, Arsenal could be tempted to reignite their long-standing pursuit of the young defender in the coming transfer window.
