Arsenal are keeping a close watch on Brighton and Hove Albion’s Kaoru Mitoma as uncertainty surrounds his future at the club.

The Japanese winger’s representatives are said to be pressing the Seagulls for a new contract that reflects his importance and performances.

According to TBR Football journalist Graeme Bailey, the Gunners are now considering making a formal approach for the 28-year-old this summer.

Mitoma currently has two years remaining on his deal with Brighton, but talks over an extension are yet to lead to a resolution.

While Brighton are under no immediate pressure to sell, the situation could shift if his contract demands are not met soon. Mitoma is valued at around £35m by Transfermarkt so he’d be a cost-effective option for the Gunners.

Mitoma was one of Brighton’s top players last season, which has seen his name linked to multiple clubs across Europe and Saudi Arabia.

Arsenal’s winger search continues

Arsenal are in the process of reshaping their attack and are targeting wide players in this transfer window.

The north London club are close to finalising a £52 million deal to sign Noni Madueke from Chelsea. However, the England international might not be the only winger to arrive at the Emirates this summer.

Arsenal are also said to be monitoring Real Madrid’s Rodrygo as part of their plan to increase attacking options.

Mitoma has now emerged as an alternative target, given his consistent displays in the Premier League since arriving at Brighton.

He finished last season with 11 goals and four assists in all competitions, underlining his influence in the final third.

His pace, directness and ability to beat defenders have made him one of the most exciting wingers in the top flight.

Chelsea are also reportedly interested in signing the Japanese star, with the Blues still exploring attacking reinforcements.

Mitoma’s contract situation means any delay from Brighton could give rivals the chance to test the club’s resolve.

Arsenal remain on alert and may consider a formal offer if his future at Brighton remains unresolved.

For now, his representatives are pushing for improved terms, but the next few weeks could determine whether he stays or moves on.
