Arsenal agree deal to sign Brentford’d Christian Nørgaard

By on June 26, 2025

Arsenal have reached an agreement to sign Christian Nørgaard from Brentford, according to reports from Fabrizio Romano.

The Danish midfielder is being lined up as a direct replacement for Thomas Partey.

The Ghanaian is expected to leave as a free agent when his contract ends later this month.

Mikel Arteta is said to be a huge admirer of Nørgaard’s leadership, physical strength, and tactical awareness.

Since becoming Brentford captain in 2023, the 31-year-old has shown consistent quality in midfield.

He made 35 league appearances last season, scoring six goals and providing four assists.

His performances highlight his ability to contribute both defensively and in attack, showing strong box-to-box play.

Nørgaard’s experience in the Premier League makes him an ideal fit for the Gunners.

His calmness on the ball and intelligent positioning allow him to control the pace of matches.

According to Romano, the deal is worth around £9 million, with personal terms already settled between the player and Arsenal. He is now set to undergo his medical and complete his move to the Emirates.

Brentford have also given the green light for him to travel, as he prepares to begin a new chapter in north London.

Arteta keen to add strength and depth in midfield

Arsenal are set to compete across multiple fronts next season, including the Champions League.

Bringing in an experienced player like Nørgaard offers both balance and much-needed depth in midfield.

He has made 196 appearances for Brentford since joining from Fiorentina in 2019.

In that time, he has scored 13 goals and delivered 18 assists.

As a Denmark international with 35 caps, Nørgaard brings leadership and a winning mindset.

Arteta sees these traits as key in building a team ready to challenge for trophies.

Nørgaard mostly plays in a holding role, shielding the defence and breaking up attacks.

The 6ft 1in ace is also capable of stepping further forward when needed, but his main strength lies in controlling the midfield.

The Danish star has been central to Brentford’s steady rise in recent years.

His ability to read the game, intercept passes, and launch counter-attacks stands out.

For Arsenal, his signing adds immediate value. With Partey’s exit, Arteta needed someone who could step in without delay. Nørgaard fits that profile.

This deal signals another strong move from Arsenal as they aim to build a squad ready to compete with the best in Europe.

Arsenal are also on the verge of signing Martin Zubimendi to further strengthen their midfield, while Kepa Arrizabalaga is set to arrive from Chelsea to act as back-up to David Raya in goal.

It appears after a slow start to the summer, the Gunners are finally making moves in the market. Arteta will now turn his focus to finally landing the striker Arsenal desperately need.
