Arsenal battling with PL rivals to sign Frankfurt’s Ekitike
Arsenal are reportedly battling with Premier League rivals over a deal to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, as per Caught Offside.
The 22-year-old is a product of Stade de Reims’ youth system, and after being impressed by his performances for the Red and Whites, Paris Saint-Germain decided to hire him.
However, the forward couldn’t find regular game time at Parc des Princes, so he left the French giants to play regularly and develop his career. Ekitike joined Frankfurt on an initial loan deal last year before signing permanently ahead of this season.
Upon moving to Deutsche Bank Park, the Frenchman showcased glimpses of his qualities in his debut campaign before flourishing his career this term. In 48 appearances in all competitions, Ekitike has scored 22 goals and registered 12 assists this season.
Now, Caught Offside claim that having been impressed by the youngster’s performances, Arsenal have registered their interest in signing him. They kept a close eye on his development this season and have already made contact with the player’s representatives to persuade him to join.
Frankfurt don’t want to let him leave, but if they are forced to cash-in, they want around £67m. However, the North London club are ready to submit a formal proposal worth around £51m to test the German side’s resilience.
Ekitike to Arsenal
The report say that Arsenal will have to overcome stiff competition to seal the deal as Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Newcastle United are also lining up a swoop for him. The Red Devils are even preparing to step up efforts to get the deal done.
Ekitike is a talented player and has showcased glimpses of his high potential this season. Therefore, he would be a great coup for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future if they purchase him.
He is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, has an eye for scoring goals from distance, and is also efficient in finishing off his chances.
It is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club eventually manage to secure his service in the upcoming transfer window to strengthen the attacking department.
