Arsenal to make ‘strong bid’ to sign Juventus star Vlahovic
Arsenal are reportedly willing to make a ‘strong bid’ to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.
It is an open secret that the Gunners are prioritising signing a new prolific goalscorer to strengthen the attacking department in the upcoming transfer window.
Newcastle United star Alexander Isak is said to be their primary target, but the Magpies don’t want to let him leave and will only change their stance should they receive a huge proposal.
It has also been reported that after realising it would be extremely difficult to purchase Isak, Arsenal have shifted their focus to signing Viktor Gyokeres. However, Manchester United are currently in a better position to secure his service due to Ruben Amorim’s presence.
So, it appears Arsenal have been forced to go deep into their wishlist to bolster the frontline, and Fichajes state that Mikel Arteta’s side are planning to reignite their interest in signing Vlahovic.
Juventus are ready to cash-in on him with his existing deal set to expire at the end of next season and want at least £43m. Arsenal have the financial muscle to seal the deal, and the Serbian would be a cheaper option than the other targets.
Vlahovic to Arsenal
The North London club hold a long-term interest in Vlahovic as they previously tried to purchase him a few years ago after being impressed by his performances with Fiorentina.
However, the forward hasn’t been able to develop his career since moving to Allianz Stadium and has been on the periphery this season. Still, he has made 19 goal contributions in all competitions.
Arsenal want a new striker to finally win the Premier League title; however, purchasing an underperforming player like Vlahovic might not be the right decision to bridge the gap with Liverpool.
Therefore, Arsenal would be better off exploring other options to strengthen the attacking department. Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club make a concrete approach to secure his service should he eventually leave the Bianconeri at the end of this season.
Meanwhile, following a 2-1 defeat against Bournemouth in the Premier League, Arsenal will face off against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-final second leg on Wednesday night.
