Arsenal predicted line-up against Real Madrid
Arsenal will travel to Estadio Santiago Bernabéu to face off against Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final second leg tonight.
The Gunners already have a healthy 3-0 lead from the first leg and are the favourites to reach the semi-final. However, Los Blancos won’t surrender easily, especially at home.
Mikel Arteta’s side will be coming into this game off the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw against Brentford in the Premier League. Following this result, they have found themselves 13 points behind league leader Liverpool.
Team news
Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Magalhaes, Kai Havertz and Takehiro Tomiyasu’s season is over due to injury problems. Therefore, they aren’t in contention to feature in this important encounter.
Raheem Sterling was suspended in the first leg and is eligible for selection tonight. Ben White picked up a knock in training ahead of the Brentford game so he is in doubt for this game.
Jorginho and Thomas Partey sustained issues last time out against the Bees but the Ghanaian should be ready to feature today. The Italian may miss out, while Riccardo Calafiori remains out with his problem.
Predicted line-up
Mikel Arteta made a few changes to his line-up last weekend to give his key players a breather ahead of this game. So, they are all set to be recalled tonight.
David Raya is expected to be in goal and in front of him, William Saliba and Jakub Kiwior should be the centre-back partnership for the North London club.
Jurrien Timber could be in the right-back position and Myles Lewis-Skelly would be on the opposite side. Therefore, Kieran Tierney would have to make do with a place on the bench.
Partey might be in the deep-lying playmaker role for the visitors. On either side of the Ghanaian, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard should commence and complete the midfield trio. So, Oleksandr Zinchenko is set to return to the bench after starting versus the Bees.
Ethan Nwaneri is likely to make way for Bukayo Saka in the starting line-up and Gabriel Martinelli might keep hold of his place in the left flank. Leandro Trossard could be replaced by Mikel Merino in the centre-forward position for Arsenal.
Expected Arsenal line-up vs Real Madrid
Raya; Timber, Saliba, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly; Partey, Rice, Odegaard; Martinelli, Merino, Saka
