Arsenal Target Hugo Ekitike to Boost Attack in Summer
Arsenal continue to look for new attackers as they prepare for the summer transfer window.
The Gunners have struggled with key player injuries and a lack of goals, so they are eager to bolster their frontline.
Several names have been linked with Arsenal recently, including Alexander Isak, Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, and Viktor Gyökeres.
Now, German outlet BILD reports that Arsenal are interested in Hugo Ekitike.
The 22-year-old French striker has been one of Eintracht Frankfurt’s standout performers this season.
In 38 appearances, he has scored 19 goals and provided eight assists, making him one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe.
Frankfurt braced for summer bids
Ekitike’s impressive form has drawn interest from several top clubs with Arsenal now emerging as contenders for his signature. However, they face stiff competition as the likes of Newcastle United, Liverpool, and Manchester United are also monitoring his situation.
Arsenal seem more determined than their rivals to secure his signature so they will hope to win the transfer battle this summer.
According to BILD, Frankfurt expect to lose Ekitike this summer, setting his price at around £67 million.
It is unclear whether Arsenal are willing to meet that valuation, but their interest is described as “hot.”
The Gunners need more firepower up front, especially after struggling with injuries and inconsistent goal-scoring.
Bringing in a player like Ekitike could add depth and quality to their attacking options.
Hugo Ekitike, born in Reims, France, began his career at his boyhood club, making his senior debut in 2020.
After a loan spell at Vejle Boldklub, he became a regular at Reims and scored 11 goals in the 2021/22 season. This form earned him a £29 million move to Paris Saint-Germain, but he struggled there, netting just four goals in 33 appearances.
In January 2024, he joined Frankfurt on loan, where he impressed enough for the Bundesliga club to make the move permanent that summer.
Arsenal have shown ambition in recent transfer windows, and landing Ekitike would signal their intent to compete at the top level next season.
