Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Georgiy Sudakov this summer, as per the Russian journalist Artur Petrosyan.

After narrowly missing out on winning the league title last term, the Gunners have been mounting a title charge once again this campaign, in addition, they have secured their place in the quarter-final of the Champions League so they are very much in the hunt to become the European champion this campaign.

So, after taking over the North London club’s managerial role during a dire situation, Mikel Arteta has managed to turn Arsenal’s fortune around over the last few campaigns.

In the meantime, the Gunners have seemingly started to plan about strengthening their squad this summer to help Arteta continue the rebuild and challenge on all fronts once again next season.

Reinforcing the centre-forward position is reportedly their primary objective during the off-season but purchasing a new midfielder is also on Arteta’s to-do list.

Sudakov to Arsenal

Amadou Onana, Douglas Luiz and Martin Zubimendi have all been suggested as serious targets for the North London club with Sudakov now emerging as a new key option.

The Ukrainian has burst onto the scene after showcasing his qualities for Shakhtar Donetsk in recent times and it seems after being impressed by his displays, Arteta’s side have registered their interest in signing him.

Speaking on GiveMeSport, Petrosyan has reported that Arsenal are interested in Sudakov and they could make a concrete approach to acquire his service during the off-season.

However, the journalist states that Liverpool are keen on signing him and in addition, Juventus are plotting a swoop for him as well so Arsenal are set to face tough competition from their rivals in getting any potential deal done for him.

Petrosyan said:

“Liverpool are showing keen interest in one of Ukraine’s brightest talents, Georgiy Sudakov. The Reds’ scouts have been attentively tracking the 21-year-old central midfielder over the past year, and there’s little doubt that they are pleased with the majority of his performances. Juventus and Arsenal are also in the race to secure his services.”

Sudakov reportedly has a whopping £128m release clause included in his current contract so the Gunners will have to splash a huge fee to lure the midfielder to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

It is never easy to negotiate with Shakhtar Donetsk so it is highly unlikely that Arsenal will get much discount to sign the 21-year-old. So, it won’t be easy for the Emirates club to acquire the youngster’s service should they formalise their interest in the upcoming window.
