Arsenal planning to reignite interest in Mykhailo Mudryk
Arsenal are reportedly planning to reignite their interest in signing Ukrainian star Mykhailo Mudryk in January, as per the Spanish outlet Fichajes.
The Gunners identified the 22-year-old as their primary target to reinforce their frontline in the last winter window. They even submitted an official proposal to purchase the winger but eventually missed out on signing the youngster to Chelsea.
However, the move hasn’t panned out for the Ukraine international as he has found it difficult to settle down at Stamford Bridge. So, according to the report by Fichajes, Chelsea are already contemplating selling Mudryk and Arsenal are looking to reignite their interest in signing him in January.
However, the report claims that purchasing Mudryk won’t be straightforward for Arsenal as Juventus are also eyeing a swoop for the Chelsea star.
Mudryk to Arsenal
Mudryk joined Chelsea in a £88m deal and he still has eight years remaining in his current contract. So, the Blues are likely to demand a big fee to sell their star man. Therefore, Arsenal will have to break the bank to lure the Ukrainian to the Emirates Stadium next year if they formalise their interest.
Although Mudryk has found it difficult to showcase his best in the Premier League, it is apparent that he is a highly talented player and possesses the potential to become a top-class winger going forward.
He is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, has the efficiency to finish off his chances and also can create opportunities for fellow attackers. In addition, he works extremely hard without possession so he would be a great coup for the North London club if they opt to secure his signature.
However, it has been suggested that Arsenal can’t afford to spend big to sign a new player in January after splashing over £200m in the summer window. So, it is highly unlikely that Mikel Arteta’s side will make an attempt to sign the former Shakhtar Donetsk star next year.
But, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal eventually decide to make a move for him if Chelsea opt to cash-in on him in the upcoming transfer window.
