Talks ongoing: Arsenal confident of agreeing deal to sign £25m star

By on July 26, 2019

The Scottish Sun are reporting that Arsenal are back in talks with Celtic over a deal to sign Kieran Tierney and are confident of finally getting an agreement in place.

Unai Emery completed a loan deal for midfielder Dani Ceballos on Thursday while we also signed William Saliba before immediately loaning him back to Saint-Etienne but the boss is still hoping to bring in two more signings before the window shuts.

Tierney has been strongly linked with a move to north London all summer but reports earlier this week suggested that Arsenal had walked away from negotiations after failing to agree terms with Celtic.

However, it seems a possible deal is still very-much alive as the Scottish Sun claims today that Arsenal have reopened talks with the SPL Champions and are determined to get an agreement in place to sign Tierney before August 8th.

The newspaper says Arsenal have already met Celtic’s £25m asking price and it’s just the structure of the deal that needs to be ironed out as the Scottish giants aren’t happy with the amount of add-ons we’ve included.

The report says Celtic want the majority of the fee paid up front with no add-on clauses but Arsenal remain confident a deal will be reached to make Tierney our fourth signing of the summer window.

This news supports what Sky Sports News claimed earlier this week as they too said Arsenal are increasingly confident of signing the 22-year-old so it looks as though Tierney could be the next player through the door at the Emirates.

He’s been one of the best players in Scottish football in recent years and he’s comfortable defensively as well as going forward so I think he’d be an excellent addition to the squad.

Obviously Sead Kolasinac has made himself a fan favourite following his car-jacking heroics yesterday but the Bosnian international still struggled defensively last season and Nacho Monreal is coming towards the end of his career.

So Arsenal need a long-term solution at left-back and I think Tierney will prove to be a superb signing if we can get this proposed deal over the line.
